I worked in both states NY and NJ. Now i am on New Yorks unemployment.
My uneployment has ended so i am on the extention program.
How can I switch to New Jersey unemloyment without disturbing my benifits. New Jersey pays more and I have the right to clam New Jersey unemployment. How do I clam New Jersey.?
#1 Does my payrate have to be the same if my employer offers me a job?
#2 What if the job offered is DIFFERENT than what I did before?
#3 What if the HOURS offered are different and I can't work them due to having 3 children under the age of 11 and a husband that works during the day and have the need but not the money for daycare?
is why I directed this to your email as well as posting on the forum. Here's
my situation: I recently used up 26 weeks on a NJ unemployment claim (though
the claim year runs through May 18th of this year). When I spoke to someone
on the phone at NJUI a few weeks ago, they told me I was not eligible for
Emergency Unemployment Benefits (EUB) on this claim, since I'd worked in New
York City during 2012, and that I'd have to "use up my New York money"
(their exact words) before anything more could happen in New Jersey. My last
(I thought) payment in NJ was certified Sunday, Jan. 20. On Monday, January
21st, I filed a successful claim in New York. I can certify there starting
Jan. 30.
Jan 24 (yesterday) I got in the mail a determination from NJ that I WAS
eligible to receive EUB, through the end of the claim (May 18, 2013). I
want to keep doing that, and I assume all I have to do is keep certifying at
NJUI online. But what happens to the New York claim if I don't certify? Is
it cancelled? Postponed? Do I need to just put my NJ unemployment money on
the New York claim (as income that came in during the week) as long as I
receive it? Or do I have to call and "cancel" the claim?
Obviously I would not collect from two states at once. I don't want to wait
until I start collecting from NJ (this weekend) before I straighten out the
NY situation. I've been trying to get in touch with New York Unemployment,
but it's a bear. I can't find anything about a similar situation online. Any
advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Be able to speak to an actually person!!
I have worked my job for 6 months n im supposed to get laid off cause im useless over there, but my boss wants to 'wait' (i guess he likes me n doesnt want me to leave or possibly cause he doesnt want me to ask for unemployment) so i heard that if u quit for a 'good reason' u can still get benefits. Can i quit for the reason explained above n still get umenployment ?
And the last question is that i have gotten benefits last year from another job n messed it up n got my benefits suspended cause i filed when i was out of the country. Could it affect in any way my case this year ?
Thank u so much for your answers.
