I was just reviewing my unemployment payment and noticed that I missed filing claims on 9/12, 11/21 and 11/28. I've reviewed my planner and I was on interviews these days. Any idea of how I can get someone on the phone at NYS Unemployment Office or any other way to put in the claim late?

Just a few questions.
#1 Does my payrate have to be the same if my employer offers me a job?

#2 What if the job offered is DIFFERENT than what I did before?

#3 What if the HOURS offered are different and I can't work them due to having 3 children under the age of 11 and a husband that works during the day and have the need but not the money for daycare?

The phone line doesn't actually let you talk to anybody. I need to talk to somebody. I've been calling the phone number for about three hours and nothing works. The official labor website even says if I follow their directions it will bring me to speak with an agent, but it doesn't work at all.

I need to extend my NY state unemployment which the website says all I need to do is keep claiming, which I have but I am getting no money. I claim the following week and it asks me if I've found work because I haven't claimed the week before (which I have). I'm a little frustrated and I can't get anyone to speak to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been trying to reach unemployment with no avail since JUNE - I am on extended benefits and havent gotten paid since then. I clearly plugged in my start date into their benefits calendar and confirmed I had benefits for 73 weeks - I received a letter from them stating I was eligible for the extension, I have been going on every Sunday and verifying benefits and getting a "CONFIRMATION PAGE" - yet no money deposited in my direct deposit account! This is ludicrous as I have been bouncing checks and unable to get in touch with this office! If you get someone you atr hung up on, or constantly busy. Anyone else have the same issues. I also pulled up all their questions and answers page and it Clearly states that you do not have to file for a new claim if on extended benefits. Doesnt this Agency realize by doing this to people they are causing major upset in peoples lives - the least they can do is answer a phone!! Disgusted

This is crazy, I've been calling the number for unemployment all day and keep getting some stupid message that says," all our agents are busy please call back later." I NEED TO TALK TO A PERSON! If someone could please email me with a specific person to call I'd really appreciate it.

I didn't file my claim until nov 20th and I was let go on oct 12 is there any way to get credit for the time before I filed? And I still haven't gotten a payment how long does it usually take to have your first official payment from the day you file. I've tried calling that stupid number for unemployment all day and all I get to is the voice mail saying that all agents are busy please call back later. SO FRUSTRATING!! I need the contact info for a real person at the unemployment office please!!

I also cannot get through to a person, or even in a holding queue. I've spent several hours of each of the past several days following the prompts through the lengthy automated menu just to be told that there is a high call volume and to call back, before having my call terminated. Is there a Manhattan office I can just walk into? I'm obviously prepared to wait all day, as I'm currently spending all day dialing and re-dialing this phone number to no avail.

I've tried to claim my weekly benefits only to have the website say that I am working. I am not working. I am freelance, and when my job ends I usually just put in my previous employer's information when claiming my benefits. I can no longer do this on the website and I have no idea why this has changed as now I have to call and hope someday I speak to an actual human being.

I claimed benefits and everything was fine for a month, I continued filing claim, but I stopped receiving payment. It's been a month without a single payment, each week telling me I've filed the claim and cannot re-file. Online and over the phone it acknowledges the last payment they made, and then nothing else. I called and like everyone else could not speak to an actual person. I need this help!

For two weeks now I have not received unemployment even though I have filed on time every Sunday when I'm suppose to. I tried calling but the automotive line hangs up and/or gives bs prompts that leads nowhere. Why are these people playing games. It's hard living in NYC especially as a young individual. I have a 1300 month rent, student loans and credit card debt up to my ass as a result of trying to get an education. I was let go from my job and I have nothing, nothing. The least that NYC can do for its people is pick up a phone and let people know what's going on. I'm frustrated and depressed. Where is the American dream that told us if we worked towards we would achieve. I went to school took out loans and got excellent grades just like my parents told me. I worked hard to achieve good things in life and now this is the result; uncaring people who take my tax money to sponsor their greed. I'm tired, annoyed and need answers.

I have not received any unemployment check in the last 4 weeks. The letter that you sent stated I would continue to collect. I have filed my claims every week and been looking for a job. My question is why have I not received a check? Thank You.

I have made efforts to file a claim on your NYS Dept of Labor website which now ask for NY Gov ID, but it does not recognize my name, only the email address that I have used in the past. I create a new email address which now means I have to wait for longer to be processed. Can a speak to individual for futher assistance?

I have an important question that needs to be answered ASAP, which
is why I directed this to your email as well as posting on the forum. Here's
my situation: I recently used up 26 weeks on a NJ unemployment claim (though
the claim year runs through May 18th of this year). When I spoke to someone
on the phone at NJUI a few weeks ago, they told me I was not eligible for
Emergency Unemployment Benefits (EUB) on this claim, since I'd worked in New
York City during 2012, and that I'd have to "use up my New York money"
(their exact words) before anything more could happen in New Jersey. My last
(I thought) payment in NJ was certified Sunday, Jan. 20. On Monday, January
21st, I filed a successful claim in New York. I can certify there starting
Jan. 30.

Jan 24 (yesterday) I got in the mail a determination from NJ that I WAS
eligible to receive EUB, through the end  of the claim (May 18, 2013). I
want to keep doing that, and I assume all I have to do is keep certifying at
NJUI online. But what happens to the New York claim if I don't certify? Is
it cancelled? Postponed? Do I need to just put my NJ unemployment money on
the New York claim (as income that came in during the week) as long as I
receive it? Or do I have to call and "cancel" the claim?

Obviously I would not collect from two states at once. I don't want to wait
until I start collecting from NJ (this weekend) before I straighten out the
NY situation. I've been trying to get in touch with New York Unemployment,
but it's a bear. I can't find anything about a similar situation online. Any
advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

For how long do u at least have to work a job to be able to ask for unemployment ? 6 months or 1 year ?
I have worked my job for 6 months n im supposed to get laid off cause im useless over there, but my boss wants to 'wait' (i guess he likes me n doesnt want me to leave or possibly cause he doesnt want me to ask for unemployment) so i heard that if u quit for a 'good reason' u can still get benefits. Can i quit for the reason explained above n still get umenployment ?
And the last question is that i have gotten benefits last year from another job n messed it up n got my benefits suspended cause i filed when i was out of the country. Could it affect in any way my case this year ?
Thank u so much for your answers.

I can't begin to describe how completely frustrated I feel right now!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! I have repeated tried, for over 1 1/2 hours, to be able to speak to a representative. I finally get someone whom I swear I can barely understand because her English is so bad. she tells me she is transferring my call and I ask her if I will be speaking to a representative and she says "yes". A lie, I am back to the automated service that cannot help me with my issue. There is absolutely no way to get a person on the phone!!!!!!!!!! !!! What the hell are we supposed to do if we need to speak to someone????????? So then I search on line hoping to find a different phone number and come across a number for a unmemployment advocate service from NYS unemployment. I call them hoping to get a phone number to a live person and guess what?, it is also automated with no way to speak to anyone!!! I am so completely frustrated that I am on the verge of tears! thank you New York State, I didn't have enough stress in my life. Been thinking of moving out of NY and this is helping to convince me!!
