I think certain people deserve the unemployment benefits. There are alot out there that DO NOT report other side jobs they have. If someone is receiving unemployment benefits, but has there photography business advertised on a social networking site (and have had customers), and also have been selling and having Tupperware parties shouldn't they be reporting this income? I know someone who is doing this but I wasn't sure if this was unemployment fraud

I was pulled from work while pregnant back in May. I received disability checks from that week through the end of my eight weeks of maternity leave after the baby was born. Because my time away from my job was longer than 12 weeks my position was replaced , which I found out about when I made the call to return to my position. I applied for benefits the week I was officially unemployed (in early October), had my waiting week and received my first check. The same week I received a letter saying that my claim was under investigation because I "quit" back in May. I had to fill out paperwork and send a statement explaining that I did not quit. I even have the stubs from the disability my company was paying me while on leave. I have not received a check since that first week.
I am just wondering how long this is going to take. Should I have cause for concern? It has been over 2 weeks since I faxed all the information and I still have not heard anything. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

I am working part-time in NY - but was collecting NJ unemployment "stopped" my unemployment checks as of 11/19/2011 without any advisory, though I was still filing every 2 weeks. Finally spoke with someone and was advised that I need to speak with NY Unemployment and that my case is in the "HUB"...? But I am unable to reach anyone by phone. I still have a balance in my acct with NJ, and have valid claims which should have been paid due to my part time position. How do I reach a person within NY unempolyment to discuss my situation?

I have been working for the same company for 7 years getting paid by piece work. I have been paid $150 a day sometimes more. 2 weeks ago they hired 30 new employees and i am only getting maybe 1 job a day making no more than $50 per day. Under the labor law is this legal and what are my rights. Am i eligible for unemplyment benefits of any kind?? I cannot survive financially and need some advice. Thank you.
