Missouri Unemployment Extension

If your Missouri unemployment benefits have run out you may be eligible to receive extended unemployment benefits through one of the state or federal unemployment extension programs.

This federal unemployment extension programs is called Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (Also known as EUC08).

Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (EUC08) includes 4 stages, or tiers. Each tier has a different maximum time period for which your unemployment extension will last:

Tier 1 EUC08: 20 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 2 EUC08: 14 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 3 EUC08: 13 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 4 EUC08: 6 week maximum unemployment extension.

If you use up all of your regular unemployment benefits, normally you don't have to apply for an unemployment extension because the system automatically applies for you, if you are eligible. It is very important that you keep track of your benefits to make sure you receive your unemployment extension if you are eligible.

If you get close to your unemployment benefits running out, give your unemployment counselor a call to check to see what you have to do in order to get they unemployment extension.

There is another type of unemployment extension called Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED), more commonly referred to as Extended Benefits (EB). You will only qualify for the EB unemployment extension if you have used up all of your regular unemployment benefits and also used up all of your EUC08 unemployment extension.

If you qualify for the EB unemployment extension you will receive additional benefits equal to 20 weeks or 80% of the maximum benefit amount on the original unemployment claim, whichever amount is less.

So, am I reading this correctly? Once all 4 Tiers of Extended Benefits have been exhausted, there is another extension after that??? That runs for 20 more weeks? I'm getting ready to exhaust Tier 3 and still cannot find decent work and working on getting a job through major car manufactuerer, but the hiring process is taking forever! So, once Tier 4 is gone? I'm still able to receive compensation? Thank You

My initial unemployment benefits ran out in August, however, I was not notified of this. It was to my understanding that I would receive a notification in the mail when my initial unemployment benefits expired, but I did not. I went to the unemployment office for my usual 4-week reporting, and the case workers there did not mention the fact that my unemployment base period had expired, nor did they tell me if I was eligible for an extension. As of now, I still haven't received any kind of notification that my unemployment benefits have ended, even though I know they have. My question now is, am I eligible for an extension, and how do I know if I am? Is there a phone number I have to call, and if so, what is it? It was to my understanding that, if I went to the unemployment office when my initial unemployment ended, then a case worker would file for an extension for me, automatically, but that was not so. Please help me. I have had no luck finding another job yet, and I need to know if I am eligible for an unemployment extension. Thank you.

I am receiving the first tier extended benefits. I don't have enough resources so I'm relocating from Indiana to Missouri to live with relatives. How will I continue my benefits?

Hello. I received a letter from the Division of Employement Security, stating my benefits for my current claim have been exhauster. I am currently a level II payout, and thought I would qualify for level III and level IV. I called my local RCC and they said level III has been eliminated.
Is that correct?

I was told that Tier III isn't available for Missouri anymore. I was currently on Tier II.

Can anyone elaborate? Everything I read does not indicate tier III has been eliminated.

My Tier II benefits are running out and I was told by the Missouri Unemployment that there is no Tier III. How can that be? I was sent a letter telling me about the different Tiers when my state unemployment ran out in February. Is this true or is there some way to apply for an extension?
