How can a police chief who had to retire collect unemployment when he collects pensions from both NYC and the T
own of Wellfleet???? What's wrong with the system???

Just in from unemployment: He can collect because he was forced to retire. He was forced to retire because of state law!!!

I filed a claim in 2007 which was appealed by my former employer. There was a hearing and the board voted in favor of the employer: The full amount that I had received I returned to Unemployment Ins. Now I just received a notice from the Mass Dept.of Revenue indicating I owe a certain amount of back taxes for not reporting the amount I received. My question is how do I get documentation that the said amount was returned thus negating any tax due.

I am currently receiving unemployment but will soon be eligible for social security. Can I collect both or does one exclude the other?

I am currently receiving unemployment benefits from NY State. I want to relocate to Massachusetts; how would the process work in terms of unemployment? Will I be eligible to transfer my case and receive unemployment benefits from Massachusetts? Please let me know.
Thank you in advance.

I was laid-off in December from a full-time job. While I was job hunting, I took on a part time job (you can earn up to 1/3 of unemployment w/o affecting your claim.)

The PT job was at a restaurant which would not give me dinner shifts and was only scheduling me for two or three shifts a week. I asked several times for additional shifts, explaining that I was actually LOSING money at the job (parking cost more than I made some days...)

When I reopened my claim, the restaurant filed that I quit, effectively closing out my case.

Most people I talk to say that I should protest with an advocate - do I have any ground to do this?

Thanks!

Can I attend a vocational school while collecting unemployment? I would like to attend a culinary arts program out-of-state. Would I be able to collect while studying?

you want to file in NH since that is the state that you were employed.

I have worked for a company for 5 years, I went out on disability for the first time and now should be returning to work. I have a note from the doctor that for 2 weeks i can only work 20 hours, then 2 weeks at 30 hours then I can return full time. I was supposed to return to work March 5, yet i only received 12 hours last week and nothing else. I contact them daily to try and get hours but no one will return calls, no one will talk to me, no one will do anything. Is this a form of a lay-off to where I can collect unemployment? If I were to tell my job to give me hours or lay me off does that disqualify me? Please any help would be much appreciated because I haven't received a paycheck in over a month and I can't live with no income. Thank you for your time.
