Kentucky Unemployment If You Get Fired

Generally, in Kentucky you have to have lost your job through no fault of your own in order to collect unemployment.

In most cases, this means that if you get fired, you cannot collect unemployment benefits.

If you get fired from your job, you should go ahead and apply for unemployment benefits, because there are some cases where you can be fired from your job and still get benefits.

If you feel like you were fired unfairly, or there were extenuating circumstances, be sure to tell you unemployment counselor about them. If your unemployment application is denied because you were fired, you also have the right to appeal the decision.

I was fired from my job unfairly and filed for unemployment the same day and was denied a few weeks later. I filed an appeal but do not have the date of the hearing yet. What can I do to prove I was unfairly discharged? Also, what led up to my discharge was unfair treatment at work with my benefits I signed up for and them not paying my child support owed but it was taken out of my checks. Can I bring this up at the hearing?

I was terminated from work for alledgedly lying to a supervisor. I had asked my supervisor what a voicemail he left me was about. he left me the other day. He began to tell me then asked me if I had my phone on me right now. I stated no it was outside in my car, where I honestly thought I had left it. I was patted down and asked to empty my pockets which were full of other things I used to perform my job. when I emptied my pockets, to my suprise the phone was in my pocket. I was given no chance to explain anything. I was never warned by any supervisors there was a no cell phone policy. I had my hearing today and my employer was a NO SHOW. What are my chances of being able to get unemployment?

If your full time hours are cut significantly due to lack of available work, can you qualify for partial unemployment payments?

I was areested for an 8 year old warrant for dui, couldnt get out because bond was too high. My sister called my employer and told them the situation. They told her to continue calling in on my scheduled work days. She forgot one day, and then assumed I had lost my job. When I finally got out I had recieved a letter stating because I had not called in two days in a row that I was considered as quit. I had little to no access to the outside world while incarcerated. I had never previously missed a day or been tardy. I contacted my work after being released to let them know I would have never quit my job, I was unable to be there. Will I be able to draw unemployment benefits?

I was fired for being tardy. I have worked there for a year and a half and had only been late 1 other time. I never got a rite up or anything. Then I had to file a claim with the kentucky labor bored because my boss was making us work through our lunch breaks and still deducted 30 minutes off our timecard. To be honest this is the real reason why he fired me. Needless to say he is no longer employed there either. But I was refused my unemployment I have yet to appeal What do you suggest

I recently had a baby and was fired from my job because of excessive absences without a doctors note because I was having trouble finding child care that I could afford. Can I collect unemployment being fired with that reason?

I was fired from my job after 2 yrs due to me being sick. I have hospital and doctors notes from most of my absences but I don't have insurance and couldn't do all the time. I got fired bc I couldn't get my diabetes medicine refilled and I missed 3 days of work. I went to the hospital a few days after I missed bc I had to wait to get my paycheck to be able to pay for the medicines. Am I eligible for unemployment???

I hae been employed by the government for 2 1/2 years. I have been out of work for 3 weeks now due to mental health issues. I have spoken with my family doctor who has referred me to a psychiatrist. I have not been able to get an appointment with this doctor yet but due to my health issues and my mental stability I am not able to work. I have severe panic attacks and it is impossible for me to focus on anything at the moment. My employer said that due to me being off I am on the verge of being fired. If I am fired due to not being at work can I draw unemployment?

I was approved for unemployment at the end of Nov. In the middle of Dec my company appealed the decision after receiving 3 checks. I received a letter stating i have a hearing at the end of Jan over the phone. If i was already approved and receiving checks how can they give me a hearing now? Or is it a mistake on their part?

How long does a person need to work before they can draw unemployment benefits through our company. We hired a person and that person cannot do the job we need. Therefore we are looking to let them go. But we need to know if they can draw unemployment benefits on our company even though they have not been there long.
