Kentucky Unemployment Rules

In order to receive unemployment benefits in Kentucky you must follow these rules:

1. You must be able to work, and are not disabled.
2. You must be actively looking for a job, and keeping a record of your job search.
3. You must file a weekly certification.
4. You must not make more than your weekly wage allowance. In some cases, you will be able to work while collecting unemployment - but only so much per week. Make sure when you apply for unemployment that you are very clear about how much you are able to earn each week. Your unemployment counselor will be able to tell you how much this is.

As long as you follow these Kentucky unemployment rules, you will continue to receive your unemployment benefits.

What if I do not make it into the office during the week it is required? Would that exclude me from any future benefits or just delay the check for that 2 week period.

I been employed at a car dealership for 6 years 7 months ago I took a asst service manger position. Today I was told I am not being productive enough and am no longer in that position. My work is now making a position for a 40 hour week job for me. The pay will be $9.00 per hour and would be nearly a 50% drop in pay. If I refuse this job can I still draw unemployment? I feel they are trying to avoid paying unemployment by offering me this extreme cut in pay so I will quit.

If one has worked since January 1, 2012 until being laid off in May, 2012, can one get unemployment. In 2011 was self-employed as a contract laborer.

How long do I have to file a claim for unemployment? I recently was told I'm eligible because I had to quit due to military orders and I wasn't aware of it so it has been more than 1 year.
