Kentucky Unemployment Eligibility

In order to establish unemployment eligibility in Kentucky you have to:

1. Be a resident of Kentucky. If you are not a resident of Kentucky, but worked in Kentucky at your last job, you should still have Kentucky unemployment eligibility.
2. Have worked and earned income in Kentucky.
3. You must not be disabled.
4. You must be able to work.
5. You must be actively looking for a new job.
6. You must have lost your job through no fault of your own. If you quit your job or were fired for 'just cause' you may not be eligible to collect unemployment in Kentucky. Every case is different, so if you lost your job -- be sure to apply to unemployment in case you are indeed eligible to receive unemployment benefits.

There are special rules that apply to unemployment elibility for military personnel and union workers, so check with your mility or union representative for these rules.

I was laid off Friday, Jan. 7,2011 being told that the lay off might not be for long (no definite time period). I have worked at this company since August 2009. Do I qualify for unemployment even if it might only be for a few days or so? When should I apply or is there a deadline?

My husband is currently employed in a town that is a two hour drive from our place of residence. We have been looking to re-locate closer to his job. My question is...if I quit my job and move with him, will I be able to collect unemployment until I can find a job in our new town?

I was working at a job part time (weekends and Mondays only), but then said I was going to go to nursing school full time and would love to continue to work there if she would work around my school schedule (Mondays). My boss was rude, and instead started to interview other applicants for my job in front of me! So I said I was giving her my 2 weeks before nursing school started. Am I ineligible to collect unemployment?

I work in house security. There is talk that they are going to go to contract security. I currently make 14.32 hr. With shift differential I average 16.00 an hr. Contract security will pay 8.50-9.00 hr. Do I have to take a job if offered by the security company or can I draw unemployment.

how long must someone work at a job before they can qualify for unemployment? A lady I know had her brother hire and then let her go within the same month. She now collects unemployment form the state so she's not as much of a drain on her family. Is this fraud?

My employer has treated many employees unfairly because she thinks someone stole money. Each were brought into the office and lied to and told she had proof they did it, most cried. I am a manager and was interrogated by a cop. I am innocent as are most of the others. She has insisted we all take lie detector tests, but most of us do not want to drive 2 hours and be subjected to a 4 hour test and there is no compelling evidence anyone did it. Can she fire us for not taking test and we be able to draw unemployment? Please advise we have been thru so much.

I am pregnant and my work has been telling me I'm not as good a worker and not motivated because I'm pregnant. I'm an associate manager at a salary pay and my doctor told me I need to stay off my feet but I cant with my job and I don't want to take off any sooner than I had to so I ask to be cut back to hourly pay until I come back from maternity leave, without stepping down and they said I could but they cut my pay over 2.50 an hour and hired someone to replace me. Could I qualify for unemployment if I quit?

I was informed of a laid off at my job, but my employer offered us all another job except it's 135 miles away. I don't have a vehicle to get to and from. And the employer says if he offers us a job within 150 miles that he doesn't have to pay unemployment. Is this true?

I currently left a grant funded job because the funding will be running out and took another job with a different company for less pay, but security. However, this new company made promises they have not kept when they hired me and I don't feel they hired me to do the actual job they posted. If I quit would I be eligable for unemployment through my first job, since I've only been with this one for 5 weeks. The first job would have given unemployment anyway after the funding became low.

I worked at my job for two and a half months. I was let go today under the pretenses that I had made mistakes on my time sheets and would need to be let go. My boss was supposed to sign off on my time sheets every pay period however this mistake was just found today. I have never ever been fired before or filed for unemployment. Am I eligible?

I have worked for a church ministry for the past two and half years. In the past six months, I have not been paid for at least six weeks worth of work due to a lack of money. Because of no funding, I barely get paid once a month even though I am supposed to be paid weekly. I can no longer work without getting paid. Am I eligible for unemployment until I find a new job?

They said the reason i was was chosen was because I was on a probation day which Walmart calls a D-day witch last approximately 1 year. Which I was on the last few weeks of it. I have been wworking for 3 1/2 years for a Kentucky employer. My pay has been $750/week (as salary with taxes taken out, etc.) plus commission (which has been paid as 1099 income, no taxes taken out). I have no benefits. Now the emoloyer wants to change me to $200/week plus commission and still expects me to work the same hours, etc. I think he really wants me to quit so he will not have to pay unemployment. Would this kind of pay reduction make me eligible for unemployment?

I have collected benefits for 6 weeks and now i must do my eligibility review. I am an engineer and i have always found my jobs by searching job boards like indeed and careerbuilder.
So this was my job search strategy so i did not have contacts for every week while i was collecting checks. Since i don't have contacts for every week what will happen to my benefits.

Today I was told that my hours will be cut from 35 hours per week to 16 hours per week. I have worked for this company for almost 7 years. I will no longer have full time benefits, and won't be eligible for full vesting for my 401K, as I wouldn't be fully vested until 6/25/13.
Am I eligible for unemployment? Can I still work there 16 hrs a week & draw unemployment or do I have to terminate my employment by quitting my job?

I have worked for a factory for 24 yrs. During the last month I was hurt on the job twice. First time, I opened a door on my machine and hit my head with the door handle that was sticking out. Second time, I was using a die grinder and a piece of metal flew under my safety glasses and into my eye. The eye injury is covered under worker's comp. Now, the factory says I am on my 2nd and final - if I have another injury within the next year - I will be dismissed. My wife also works at the same place and I would prefer to stay there. I am doing my best on my job and I do NOT want to get hurt but if this happens - will I be eligible for unemployment?

Since i did not work for the company i am currently with last year in Indiana do i apply in Kentucky and would I be eligible to recieve the unemployment benefits? I am not sure how this works. Please help me to better understand! I need some type of income and am very fearful that I might not actually qualify for assistance.

I need help. In 2006 my exhusband got a really good job that allowed me to stay home with our academicly challenged daughter. After she was diagnosed I returned to school in 2008 to get my teaching degree, my husband was unsupportive and we divorced. I am currently 12 hours from graduating and am having problems finding a job. I no longer have any residual funds to support my family and my exhusband has not only lost his job but also stopped paying his child support. The job I had I was laid off from that was in 2006, CAN I FILE FOR BENEFITS WHILE I LOOK FOR A JOB?

I have recently had an unsatisfactory evaluation stating poor work performance. I am on probation for 30 days and did not get my COLA increase. After 30 days if I do not bring up my work to a higher level, I may be dismissed.

I have really done my best for 5 years, but cannot perform satisfactorily for my employer.

I feel that I should resign, but what are my options? Can I apply for unemployment benefits until I find another job?

Hello, I reside in Kentucky but am currently on tier 3 collecting benefits from California from which I moved from in 1/2013. I was laid off from my employer in California from no fault of my own 6/2012 and have been collecting unemployment ever since from California. I did let Kentucky unemployment know when I moved here because I wasn't quite sure what to do and I was told to continue to receive my benefits from California. Now that California no longer offers a tier 4 extension and I am still searching for work here in Kentucky and my benefits run out 10/8/2013, If I am still employed am I able to receive benefits from the state of Kentucky. I have not worked at all in Kentucky but am desperately looking. Please help!

I live in KY and lost my job in October 2010. I began receiving unemployment benefits in November 2010 and continued to do so until April 2012. At this time I did not find a job but I did start making significant self employment income so I stopped requesting benefits. My self employment income dried up in April this year. Can I request benefits now on my previous claim and if so can I back up and receive benefits for May, June and July. I wouldn't think so but I still occasionally receive letters for the Office of Employment and Training that seem to suggest that I could request benefits. Thanks for your help.
