Florida Unemployment Rules

In order to receive unemployment benefits in Florida you must follow these rules:

1. You must be able to work, and are not disabled.
2. You must be actively looking for a job, and keeping a record of your job search.
3. You must file a weekly certification.
4. You must not make more than your weekly wage allowance. In some cases, you will be able to work while collecting unemployment - but only so much per week. Make sure when you apply for unemployment that you are very clear about how much you are able to earn each week. Your unemployment counselor will be able to tell you how much this is.

As long as you follow these Florida unemployment rules, you will continue to receive your unemployment benefits.

I was involved in a work place violence incident with another co worker. We both received a DAR to go in our personell files, we both have to go to angry management classes. I was but on Administation leave with pay until the investigation was over. We both was found guilty on uncoming behavior of a supervisor. Two month passed an management offer me a demotion, if I took the demotion if could not appeal their decision. So I refused they offer. two weeks later I was terminated. This is a government job and my first miscouduct, I have been working here for 18 years with a good record. I would like to know why I am fighting their decision with my attorney can I apply for unemployment benefits.

In the Sate of Florida you can not collect unemployment if you are disabled, and you can not collect disability until you have been unemployed for atleast two years.

I live in Florida, My job was outsourced to India. I applied for unemployment and denied because I collect a pension from the company. However, the company has not funded the pension in over 5 yrs. It is an old pension plan that I was eligible for. Same company, but they stopped funding the plan. Shouldn't I be able to collect because it is outside the 5 base period for eligibility?

I attended 3 training classes for a casino that I will be working at but they do not know when they will open up for business yet. Also, I am waiting for the state gaming license, so if that is denied I will not have a job. The 3 trainings were paid. Will my unemployment be taken from me?

My company is moving our office and they will require me to drive even farther than I do already. Do I have to accept the move, or can I file for unemployment because I can't afford the extra gas or time it will take me to commute?

I quit my job to be able to do an internship with the state though a univeirsity i am attending. i received a letter labeled wagescript and determination stating how much i qualify for each week. does this mean i was approved. also i just got hired for a part time job 2 days a week and i read on top that in some cases i would be able to work as long as i didn't make more than the weekly wage allowance. so does this mean i can work the part time job and still collect unemployment if i was approved?

My hours were cut from 40 per week to 24 per week last November. I have borrowed money from family & friends to stay afloat hoping the tide would change at my job. As of 4/3 I was told they don't know when they will increase my hours. Can I file for the lost 16 weekly hours?

I currently work a full-time job and a part-time weekend job which has very limited hours available (usually, only 8 at most). My question is, if for whatever reason I lose the full-time job (within guidelines, of course), will the part-time weekend job interfere with my ability to receive unemployment benefits?

My daughter was recently fired from the place she had worked for 5 years. She was fired for being late. She had problems with transportation due to her car being out of commission. But the reason she was fired she was sick and so was her daughter that day. They had denied it and she appealed it. She has a hearing scheduled next week. Will she be able to still get unemployment based on this information?

I was let go from my job after 4 years. (In Florida) One week I was just not on the schedule at all - when I called the store GM he said he was letting me go. Reason: I received a customer complaint, have an attitude and changed my availability. I had gone form 6 shifts to 3 the month before because I found a 2nd job in order to make bills. I was only given 2 of 3 shifts that I could work. I was never written up or given a warning - and was not notified of the complaint.

When I asked, the manager stated I would be eligible for re-hire in the future.

I have a job now but it's less hours and money - is it possible to receive partial UC benefits?
Thank you.

I fell at work about 5 months ago. I was out on wc for 6 weeks. Doctor released me back to work with no restrictions as in his words there was no more he could do. Lately I have been having a lot of pain in my back that makes it hard to perform my job as I sit and am a customer service rep. I have been out of work for a week as the dr at ER says I have agitated it and prolonged sitting makes it worse. So with this said could I collect benefits if I were to quit my job.

If I give 2 weeks notice, but my boss tells me to go right then instead of waiting 2 weeks, is that considered quiting or laid off or fired?

The company that I was with got bought out and the new company hasn't officially offered me anything new. My position has been given to someone else and I'm going to be transferred to another office, demoted, and from what I was told will most probably get offered less that what I'm currently making. If I refuse the offer will I be eligible for unemployment?

If a part time job can be secured, how does that impact unemployment compensation?

In Florida a part time job will reduce the amount of your benefit. If you are receiving $100 weekly from your job weekly your unemployment would be reduced by that amount.
