Florida Unemployment Rules

In order to receive unemployment benefits in Florida you must follow these rules:

1. You must be able to work, and are not disabled.
2. You must be actively looking for a job, and keeping a record of your job search.
3. You must file a weekly certification.
4. You must not make more than your weekly wage allowance. In some cases, you will be able to work while collecting unemployment - but only so much per week. Make sure when you apply for unemployment that you are very clear about how much you are able to earn each week. Your unemployment counselor will be able to tell you how much this is.

As long as you follow these Florida unemployment rules, you will continue to receive your unemployment benefits.

I was involved in a work place violence incident with another co worker. We both received a DAR to go in our personell files, we both have to go to angry management classes. I was but on Administation leave with pay until the investigation was over. We both was found guilty on uncoming behavior of a supervisor. Two month passed an management offer me a demotion, if I took the demotion if could not appeal their decision. So I refused they offer. two weeks later I was terminated. This is a government job and my first miscouduct, I have been working here for 18 years with a good record. I would like to know why I am fighting their decision with my attorney can I apply for unemployment benefits.

In the Sate of Florida you can not collect unemployment if you are disabled, and you can not collect disability until you have been unemployed for atleast two years.

I live in Florida, My job was outsourced to India. I applied for unemployment and denied because I collect a pension from the company. However, the company has not funded the pension in over 5 yrs. It is an old pension plan that I was eligible for. Same company, but they stopped funding the plan. Shouldn't I be able to collect because it is outside the 5 base period for eligibility?

I attended 3 training classes for a casino that I will be working at but they do not know when they will open up for business yet. Also, I am waiting for the state gaming license, so if that is denied I will not have a job. The 3 trainings were paid. Will my unemployment be taken from me?

My company is moving our office and they will require me to drive even farther than I do already. Do I have to accept the move, or can I file for unemployment because I can't afford the extra gas or time it will take me to commute?

I quit my job to be able to do an internship with the state though a univeirsity i am attending. i received a letter labeled wagescript and determination stating how much i qualify for each week. does this mean i was approved. also i just got hired for a part time job 2 days a week and i read on top that in some cases i would be able to work as long as i didn't make more than the weekly wage allowance. so does this mean i can work the part time job and still collect unemployment if i was approved?

My hours were cut from 40 per week to 24 per week last November. I have borrowed money from family & friends to stay afloat hoping the tide would change at my job. As of 4/3 I was told they don't know when they will increase my hours. Can I file for the lost 16 weekly hours?
