Pennsylvania Unemployment Office

Sometimes it is difficult to get through to the PA unemployment phone number, or you have questions that the website just can't answer, so you have to go to talk to someone face to face at the PA unemployment office.

There is probably a PA unemployment office in your town or county. Most states have one in every county. Be prepared though. Many people are applying for unemployment at the same time, and your local Pennsylvania unemployment office could be very crowded, and you might have to wait in long lines in order to see someone.

Here are some tips when going to the PA unemployment office:

1. Go early. Be there at least 1 hour before the office opens.
2. Dress appropriately. It will be very hot in the summer, and very cold in the winter. Dress appropriately for the temperature and time of year.
3. Pack a lunch. You will probably have to wait a long time in line, and will probably get hungry. Pack a lunch and bring lots of water to drink to stay hydrated.
4. Bring your medicine. If you take medications that you can't miss - make sure you bring all of the medicine that you will have to take for that day, just in case you are there all day long.
5. Bring a pen or pencil. You will need one to fill out the application and to take notes.

My waiting week was the week of
12/16/11. I filed my biweekclaim on 12/26/11. I sent direct deposit information with my initial claim. When will I receive my first payment? Will it go to my check account or on paycard?

have not received a check in over a month. Been calling 5-10 times a day every other day. The first time I hung up after an hour. The second time I hung up after 2 hours. For the past 3 weeks all I get is a busy signal. I even sent 2 emails.

Hell, I was laid off last week and came home and filed an initial claim online. It looked as though everything was accepted through their system. I waited a couple days and didn't see any emails or anything stating that the claim was being processed or anything. I then went on the Pa site to check the status and it can't find any record. I called to find out if I need to resubmit everything (Didn't want to do everything all over and confuse things), But the number is constantly busy. What do I do?

I've been laid off for a month. Filed an initial claim, and reopened. When I try to file online for my bi-weekly claim it says my claim needs reactivated. The numbers I call are constantly busy. I haven't had any money for a month. This is getting rough...

My wife has also been trying to get through on the phone, but it's always busy! She's been sitting with the phone in her hand for the past 3 HOURS, redialing every 5-10 seconds, with nothing but a busy signal! Why don't they have a phone system that can handle the number of incoming calls? What can we do to resolve this problem?

Help please. Tried filing my biweekly claim and received a message saying account is inactive. I waited to long to file, only a few days. Have been trying to call them for over a week and only receive a busy signal, also sent an email. I am a single mom and need this for bills. Don't know what to do, or how to get a hold of anyone.

My boyfriend has been waiting for his unemployment check for two months...still no check. Has been calling the phone #'s for 5 weeks everyday, dialing over and over and over for HOURS!!! Always, always busy. Must we contact state or local government to get some answers and get his money due to him????? This is ludicrous! Who, how and when do we call to get through?
Needed that money last month. :-(

Good afternoon, My son filed his unemployment incorrectly. He should have put quit but checked hours cut. The part time job he was working at was cutting back on his hours all the time. He was used to filing that way and put it incorrectly. His checks did not process because they wanted him to contact the office. He has been trying every number that is available but they are all busy. The closest office was Allentown but that only receives mail only per the address on th website. He has been trying all day from 7:55 am to 4:00 pm. I never had an issue with acrually talking to someone six years ago. How many people have to complain about the problem. Hire more people or outsource to a professional company. Pleaase advise if there are hot lines we need to contact. Or do we need to write to the Govenor or the Senate to get things done.

have not had a paycheck in a month. filed a claim, and it told me to call in for more information. i also dialed a number i used to initually reopen my claim and that has been changed to the employer line. i find it ironic that 9% of PA is unemployed and i dont know anyone that has had a pleasent experience getting the money unemployment is supposed to provide. a dedicated phone number thats always busy? id like to be able to hold off without a check or be back at work, since the unemployment check is like half of what i make working. but unfortunately i have two mortage payments due at the end of every month and a handful of bills. PLEASE GET BACK TO ME. IM GETTING EXTREMEMLY FRUSTRATED.

Formerly employed in Ohio. Lost job at beginning of 2013. Long time resident of Pennsylvania.

Do I apply for unemployment through Pennsylvania?
Can I apply in person at any PA unemployment office?
What is the closest unemployment office to Coraopolis, PA?
