Pennsylvania Unemployment If You Get Laid-off

Generally, in Pennsylvania you have to have lost your job through no fault of your own in order to collect unemployment. When you get laid-off, it is not your fault.

In almost all cases, this means that if you get laid-off, you are eligible to collect unemployment benefits.

If you get laid-off from your job, you should immediately apply for unemployment benefits.

Getting laid-off doesn't mean that you were fired. Getting laid-off doesn't mean that you did something wrong. Getting laid-off means that they company that you worked for did not have enough work for you to do, and could no longer afford to pay you to do your job.

can you collect unemployment if you have been forced transferred or laid off from a 12 month position at the begining of the summer and offered a 10 month position in the fall?

If an employer advertises to hire someone older to replace an employee that doesn't have young children and need time off of work to care for their children if they are sick and also required to train the new employee before being laid off or fired, are they able to collect unemployment and is that considered age discrimination?

I am quitting my job to start a new job. I have been advised by my new employer that it is a seasonal position that could become permanent(no guarantee). I have worked continually for six years. If I were not offered permanent employment and laid off after the season w/ my new employer, Will I be eligible for unemployment?

I work as a job coach with teens in school. I am paid hourly and only work when schools are in session, therefore summer and school holidays are unpaid for me. Can I collect unemployment during the summer?

I took a leave of absence from my job which was approved by my employer but I also found out I am being laid off. If I get laid off while I'm still on my leave of absence will I still be elegible for unemployment?

I was laid off a week ago after my work had posted my job twice on craigslist. They then posted my job again. Then they called me and offered 2 dollars less an hour to return to the same job. Will my unemployment be terminated if i dont except this pay cut.

Around november i was laid off due to work. I started to receive unemployment comp. I worked a couple of weeks when the weather was nice, but nothing permenant. I received a letter today saying i was terminated...with no reason as why. whn I calle my boss, he did not know, but thinks it was because i was collecting unemployment. Do I have any options?

I was out sick from January 18, 2013 to February 1 which started my vacation so I did not have to return back to work until February 19, 2013. When I return I had to have a meeting with human resources and the director because I put in a grievance againt her. Well at the meeting they both told me that they was closing my position because of budget cuts and come to find out that they gave that position to someone else. This has made me very depress because I been on this job for six years and was in that position for 5 years and a supervisor for a years. It was a retaliatio against me and I find myself crying all the time. I have reschedule a doctor appointment to get son professional help I can not stay at this job. What cn I do.

My husband was furloughed from his teaching position due to budget cuts. He could not find a position within a commutable distance. He attended a job fair in NC and was offered a teaching job immediately but the salary is much less than in PA. Am I eligable for "trailing spouse" benefits so I can leave my job, in the same district, to seek work in NC? Our employer told us to research it since I could also be cut/bumped in the future. Most of the info I have found for trailing spouse refers to transfer of spouse not lay off. What documentation is needed to prove necessity?
