Pennsylvania Unemployment If You Get Fired

Generally, in Pennsylvania you have to have lost your job through no fault of your own in order to collect unemployment.

In most cases, this means that if you get fired, you cannot collect unemployment benefits.

If you get fired from your job, you should go ahead and apply for unemployment benefits, because there are some cases where you can be fired from your job and still get benefits.

If you feel like you were fired unfairly, or there were extenuating circumstances, be sure to tell you unemployment counselor about them. If your unemployment application is denied because you were fired, you also have the right to appeal the decision.

I am being fired for attendance violations. There have been times where I was written up for being late; mostly due to oversleeping. I have a medical condition (anxiety) where my medicine requires a certain number of hours of sleep and my schedule has not always allowed me to get that required number of hours. If I have proof of medical condition will I be able to collect unemployment?

I ended up contracting a severe flu that left me out of work for a week. Four of the days were unpaid sick. I had proper medical notes but was fired anyway. Am I still eligible for unemployment?

I am being fired because I was maxed out on corrective actions 'CA's for attendance with they changed the policy so that doctors notes would not matter.... after I already had gotten pretty far up on CAs also my job title is a selector so my job is to pull orders until they are done then go home the leadership team told me to go wrap pallet at the end of the day singling me out because of former experience the first time I worked there in a different department but I quit and came back and was never trained to do that job function so I refused.... there goes another CA I used my company's open door policy and went up to our DCs ops manager where he told me he wasn't goin to take the CA away nd his boss wouldn't either nd if it was him tht I refused to do it to he would have immediately fired me..... I have paid unemployment ever since I was 16 and have never collected do I qualify??

Since February 2012 I have missed 2 Full days of work and gone home early twice. The 2 full days were because of being sick, and having gone to the doctor. The other two 1/2 days were child related. I have just missed 2 more the last 2 days of April due to having a severe case of tonsillitis, I could very well be fired for this as my company does not care about medical excuses. Can I collect unemployment if I get fired? I'm very worried about my family but I can't control being sick, especially with something contagious.

I was fired because I missed a lot of days due to both inability to fix my car and due to my irritable bowel syndrome.

I was fired recently and the only reason I recieved for my termination was that my work ethic was slowing down. I got no warning of my work ethic and therefore surprised. Can I file for unemployment? Also, manager is suspected to be sexist but no concrete evidence other than certain words spoken.

I recently got fired for something I didn't do. I was accused of abusing a resident in a nut ward. I swear on my children's lives and anything that I care deeply about that I didn't do it. Supposedly the company did an investigation and got pissed at me for not ratting on coworkers and let me go. Can I still collect unemployment?

I was fired recently for "absentiesm". I was threatened physical harm by another employee. I have spoke to my superior about the situation. She didn't do anything about the threats. I called off work 2 days within 2 weeks to avoid conflict and possible harm with the person making threats. I was fired 8/22/12 without warming for absenteism. Can I file for unemployment?

If all employees were given an option to work on the holiday and my choice was no,would not want to work on the holiday and was asked to sign name next to answer. Then have disagreement with supervisor for changing my schedule so I do have to work, when they clearly gave me/all employees a choic
e. Then turn around to say thts nt their problem. Then wait 4days later when I was suppose to work to tell me I'm fired do to me being loud on phone when arguing with supervisor whn clearly it was because I was fighting for my beliefs of wht they tried to do was wrong. Don't I become eligible for unemployment?

How long should it take to get an answer from pa uc? I've been waitning for answer since 12/9/12. It's now 2/8/13. Is this normal. I was fire is this a sign they are going to say no? I was told that they had all the info from both me and the employer that was needed 12/27/12 and should be making a decision soon. Should I just assume the answer is no?

I missed two days of work cause i caught the flu from a coworker (who ended up hospitalized for it and missed 3weeks). Last night in middle of the night my father-in-law had a heart attack and was rushed to hospital and ended up in surgery. So again i have to call off another tuesday. My boss txted me that since i had to call again at "odd" hours that my job was done. I cant control when people get sick, would i be elligable for unemployment?

I've been working at my job for about 5 months and recently I was told that I have switch to a different group (because an employee didnt get along with the supervisor) ,which has different hours than the group I was originally in. Now the days where I works the morning shift I had to pick my son up from daycare, now the shift I work now conflicts with me picking my son up from daycare and my manager said he is giving me 30 days to figure things out and if I can't they are going to have to let me go. If they force me to switch my hours and I can't find anyone to pick my son up, if they fire me could I collect unemployment?
