Pennsylvania Unemployment Job Search Requirements

In order to keep receiving Pennsylvania unemployment benefits you have to meet ongoing job search requirements. Unemployment benefits are meant to be a temporary benefit until you find a new job, so these job search requirements are in place to make sure you are actively looking for a new job.

Pennsylvania Job Search Requirements are:
1. You must be actively be looking for a job.
2. YOu must make at least 2 job contacts per week. Job contacts include filling out job applications and sending resumes.
3. You must keep a record of all of your job search activities, including a record of all job contacts.
4. You must not be disabled. If you are disabled there are different programs available to help you and your unemployment counselor or local unemployment office can direct you to those resources. (These resources include Social Security Disability).

You must fulfill these job search requirements every week, and provide a weekly certification to let the unemployment office that you are meeting all of the requirements. Be sure to have your job search record up to date, as you may be called into the unemployment office for a periodic eligibility review.

I went to a job interview and while there found out it was only minimum wage and my previous two jobs were higher pay and I will never be able to make it on minimum wage. If they call me to hire me, can I refuse it to seek higher paying jobs without it affecting my unemployment benefits or do I have to accept the job?

Please define "2 contacts a week" we were looking for help & posted a help wanted ad on craigs list, they are told to call to make an appt for interview & I got tons of e-mails, and they are telling me to contact them to set up an appt. I don't believe they had any intention of following the instructions to get a job. is an e-mail considered a contact??? really????

I work part time which various ea. week, I also have a letter of possible re-employment when work picks up do I still have to look for work
