Tier 4 EUC08: 6 week maximum unemployment extension.

If your North Carolina unemployment benefits run out you might be eligible to receive extended unemployment benefits through one of the state or federal unemployment extension programs.

This federal unemployment extension programs is called Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (Also known as EUC08).

It is very important that you keep track of your benefits to make sure you receive your unemployment extension if you are eligible.

The same thing happened to me - what you need to do is call the Employment Security Commission, spend half an hour on hold, and then ask them to re-open your claim - if you don't have a "balance due" they will let you know.

I'm hoping you've already found this out, but just in case you haven't ... when you get that message about your claim year, you'll need to call the Employment Commission and let them know about the message you got. They'll check your status and then re-open the claim if you still have money due to you.

I was told today by a esc agent that there is no more benefits in NC after tier 4? It says that if the unemployment rate is above a certain % that your claim rolls over to the EB state benefits? My benefit year does not end until October 2012? Any answers on this? Thanks!
