New Jersey Unemployment Extension - EUC08 Tier 5

Currently, there is no Tier 5 EUC08.

If you use up all of your EUC08 unemployment benefits, there is another type of unemployment extension called Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED), more commonly referred to as Extended Benefits (EB). You will only qualify for the EB unemployment extension if you have used up all of your regular unemployment benefits and also used up all of your EUC08 unemployment extension.

If you qualify for the EB unemployment extension you will receive additional benefits equal to 20 weeks or 80% of the maximum benefit amount on the original unemployment claim, whichever amount is less.

I am on Tier 3 extension. I filed my claim 9/25/12 and had no problem. The record led me to believe I had $7K left on the Tier 3 claim. I filed bi-weekly this morning and my claim was closed on the 1 year anniversary of my layoff on 10/2. It looks like they took back the open dollars and cut my benefits unexpectedly and without warning. I have been trying to reach a live person at unemployment all day and the lines are busy. One number placed me on hold for over an hour and they hung up on me without even transferring me to a live person.

Can they do this? What is happening? According to the rights and regs, once you have that "approved" pot of money it is there so long as you are actively seeking work and do not decline work.

What is going on?

I became unemployed on 12/10/10. I lost my unemployment benefits on 7/6/12 but i still have a claim balance over $4,000. I thought my extended benefits would be restored based on the new fiscal cliff agreement.. I called my unemployment office and they said there are no extended benefits in New Jersey and I am not entitled to the 13 - 20 additional weeks. I feel this is unfair because NJ is such a high unemployment. What has to happen for NJ to become an EB state and is there anything I can do to get my benefits restored? Thank you.

NJ really has "Issues". We are the highest in Unemployment and keep hearing, oh NJ is creating new jobs-economy better. Please tell me where that is! We have been way over 9% (now 9.7% and holding) for the past 4 years. I would like to know why when President Obama reinstated Extended Benefits (Including EB) NJ refuses to comply. Now due to lack of employment (and believe me I keep trying), denied EB benefits by this "Wonderful State" am on welfare, thanks NJ.

I received a notice advising I was entitled to extended benefits
at a reduced amount until the end of Sept. 2013. I have already
used up Tier 4.
I was told the letter was in error and I was not entitled to any
extension,. The rep was not very nice and I was on hold for
3 hours.
Please advise.
Thank you
