Marc: If you are going on your first extension, that should happen automatically. Call your local social security office to make sure.

I have been working for 15 years in nj as a professional scientist before being laid off a year ago. I have been on nj unemployment benefits for 1 year and was recently automatically extended for a few more month. My question is, if I will move out the state to a different state for better opportunity to find a job and lower living expenses, do I still qualify for extended benefits in nj? Or Do I have to apply in other state? Thanks.

My base unemployment ran out and I was automatically renewed. My base benefit amount left was very small - no where near the full week benefit amount. Will the state pay me the difference since my extension went through or am I out of luck for that week of benefits?
