New Jersey Unemployment Rules

In order to receive unemployment benefits in New Jersey you must follow these rules:

1. You must be able to work, and are not disabled.
2. You must be actively looking for a job, and keeping a record of your job search.
3. You must file a weekly certification.
4. You must not make more than your weekly wage allowance. In some cases, you will be able to work while collecting unemployment - but only so much per week. Make sure when you apply for unemployment that you are very clear about how much you are able to earn each week. Your unemployment counselor will be able to tell you how much this is.

As long as you follow these New Jersey unemployment rules, you will continue to receive your unemployment benefits.

I lost my full time job, but I still have my part time job (just one day a week). Am I eligible to file for unemployment?

I have been collecting un-employment benefits for a couple months now and I started a full time job but I quit only after 2 days. I didn't like the office environment and I felt that I was trapped inside the office, like they didn't want me to leave for lunch. Can I still claim my benefits from my last employer? I have been actively looking for work and I don;t think that should be held against me.

I am an employer if an employee out on disabilty for 26 weeks for maturnity leave do I have to pay the same hourly rate to them for a different position when they return to work?

If the pay for the position you will assign her to is less than what she received prior to her maternity leave - Yes.

An employee returning from maternity, FMLA, military service, etc., cannot be paid less than what they were earning prior to their temporary absence. In fact, if there were any wage increases during their absence, they are entitled to that increase.

A fellow employee and I were fired for horseplay. We filed for unemployment. I went through the three way call. Job didn't answer. I was told by the unemployment rep that they (my job) had fourty eight hours to deny me. That was on the 22nd of december 2012. Got no denial. When I talk to them next they told me that I would receive my cash, a lump sum; not by the up coming Thursday but the following Thursday. I had an issue with receiving my card which turned out not to be a problem at all. The whole while I have been talking back and forth with unemployment. Thursday comes I have no money. I call unemployment and pretty much they tell me that my claims rep did not do his job and complete his job. Information that they are receiving from the monitor they were looking at. Last time the had me sit on hold for two hours and some. This time they gave me the option of holding or waiting on a return call. They call me and tell me that I was denied and my rep gane me a 6 month penalty. For what I ask. They said I gave up my job basically. Because I was fired for horseplay. The other employee had already been receiving his benefits an still is. How is it possible. We were fired together for playing with eachother. However, this is about me so at what point was I gonna find out I was denied?. I'm being told that I can't appeal and I can only start a new claim. How is this even leaga? What rule says I can't appeal? Why are they withholding my money that I worked for and they took for the reason of unemployment, social security, etc.?

I thought my unemployment benefits ended and therefore refiled but then found out that it had not ended. I was having issues claiming and that's why I thought it ended and reclaimed. I am waiting to speak to someone to correct this problem. Will they be able to correct it?
