can i receive unemployment benefits in nj if i was on short-term disability and then returned to work? I returned to work and then was out sick, not related to my disability, and then was terminated?

Hello,i'Im currently working but Im going to start attending school soon in the state Pennslyvania, i currently reside in the New Jersey.Its going to be rather diffcult to work because my classes consume all of my time during the day, and the commute between my job and school is approximately 3 hours apart, resulting in inability to carry on with the both at the same time. My job requires me to work 40 plus hours a week constraining my time for studies making it virtually impossible to attend the school of my preference as a fulltime student, i have several responsibilties i must attend to such as a cell phone bill, car insurance, rent, cable, etc. I hope you can see and consider my situation.

I am enrolled in a master's degree program. For it, I am required to work an internship. My job just informed that I can stay but they will drastically cut my hours for work and consider me per diem. With a baby on the way, I can't afford to stay.

I've been with my company for a little over 6 years, am in very good standing and got pregnant with tiwns, I was out on short term disability then FML. Before and during my leave I talked with my manager about coming back to work part-time. There is an employee who is leaving and therefore an open position. She had no problem with me taking it, until I the week before I was to come back to work. She wants me to stay fulltime becuase i'm good at my job, but the financial burden of daycare is ridiclous. I had twins and I'm working just to send them to daycare full time. I'd like to know if I can quit my job and collect unemployment until I can find a part time job. I do want to work, but part time. I do not need insurance, because i'm on my husbands. Can I collect if I quit?

I was told you need to work 20 weeks to be eligible for unemployment. If I leave my job of two years for a better one and get laid off after 6 weeks do I still qualify?

Hi i started a cafeteria job in a school back in september. soon after i found out i was pregnant, my due date is June 11. The last day of school is June 8. I have talked to my union and i am covered with 6 weeks of maternity leave, 4 weeks before and 2 after. By time i am able to go back to work the school will be out for the summer. My question is, if i collect my 6 week maternity leave will i be able to also collect my unemployment for the summer since my job will not start again until school starts which is in September. We are a small company. 8 employees. A past employee worked for us for 6 weeks and then left one day --quit without any notification. He then immediately filed for unemployment benefits..NJ paid them and we are filing an appeal since this will affect our experience rating. Any suggestions as to what to say in the appeal or to the NJ Dept of Labor

I have been working at my company 15 months,the past 3 months my medical condition has gotten extremely worse. Much of which comes from my work environment, co workers and especially manager. This led me to have to take a medical leave for a few weeks. Everything is being taken care of through my Human resources department and doctor. I told my manager before I took my leave and he was well aware. At this point he started giving me a hard time about taking it and giving me incorrect information, being hostile, and making this situation more stressful. My manager told me the day before I left that if I took my medical leave he would assume my job wasn't "important" and he would terminate me. I got in touch with HR only to find out he was wrong and feeling like he is doing this to give me a hard time because he has been hostile to me prior to this and treats other employees different. I have been out of work a week now and have been getting calls from people at my work who don't work in my department asking me if I still work there and other things which makes me feel uncomfortable that he is giving information on my absence because there isn't another way people would know because it's an HR matter which should be private. My medical reason is getting worse from the stress and unnecessary aggravation and incorrect information I have been dealing with. If I loose my job because I can't go back due to my illness or quit because my conditions and health is getting worse and I cant work like this for my health anymore, could I collect unemployment while I look for a new job and take care of my medical condition? Could I collect if I quit for this reason? Worst case would be me going back to work and he may fire me for his own reasons eventually. Let me know ASAP PLEASE!

My boss recently pulled me aside to discuss my performance and in the process bluntly asked if I truly enjoyed my job and if I saw myself doing it forever. I honestly answered that I did not see myself doing it forever. Shortly afterward this was communicated to the owner and I was confronted again and was told that since I did not want to be there and was not willing to work at being a better employee they were searching for a replacement. I asked if I was being let go or if this was an ultimatum since I never told them I was going to quit. They more or less did not answer directly but said I was not being let go but I did not want to be there and they didn't want me to be unhappy working there. I am still confused and made it clear that if i would not like to quit because I need to work. They told me the replacement would be there in about a week. Now I am worried if I go along with this, (since I feel I don't have much of a choice) that if I do have to apply for unemployment they will say I left voluntarily or I was let go for just cause? Do I have any options? I did try to express that I would be willing to do more training in order to improve my performance but they would just answer by saying but you dont want to be here. I feel as if they took those words completely out of proportion, I did not tell them I wanted to leave my job, I need to work.

I've been out on short term disability and family leave for the past 3 month. today my boss called and told me that my position is changing. they need me to work saturday from 6 to 11 in the morning, which would be fine if I had transportation to get there that early. if I don't work saturday they will cut my schedule from 5 days a week to 4 days week (30 hours to 24 hours).
