How to Reopen an Existing Nevada Unemployment Claim

It may become necessary for you to reopen an existing Nevada unemployment claim if you suspend or cancel your unemployment because you found a job, and then later became unemployed again.

Generally, you can reopen an existing unemployment claim by simply filing a weekly certifcation online or by phone -- just like you did every week when you receiving unemployment previously.

In some cases, it may be necessary to speak to an unemployment counselor or start the process all over again in order to reopen an existing unemployment claim in Nevada. If this is the case, contact your unemployment counselor to get exact instructions on how to proceed.

I am on an extended benefit claim and was able to keep the benefits from a prior year (I work part time) due to the hr423 fix for part time work., though I qualified for a new claim. If I make more then my weekly benefit amount for one week, must I reopen my claim? And would I be able to reopen under the extended benefit claim, (which has a much higher amount), or must this be opened with a new claim amount for the most recent year, If this were to be the case, I would loose all the benefits of the part time work fix. Please explain how this works. Also, the claim I am drawing on is from a prior employer and not the part time employer I am currently working for. Would my currant part time employer be contacted or charged with any new claim amounts, because of reopening the claim? Does this delay my benefits? Thank you.
