Nevada Unemployment Extension

If your Nevada unemployment benefits have run out you may be eligible to receive extended unemployment benefits through one of the state or federal unemployment extension programs.

This federal unemployment extension programs is called Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (Also known as EUC08).

Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (EUC08) includes 4 stages, or tiers. Each tier has a different maximum time period for which your unemployment extension will last:

Tier 1 EUC08: 20 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 2 EUC08: 14 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 3 EUC08: 13 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 4 EUC08: 6 week maximum unemployment extension.

If you use up all of your regular unemployment benefits, normally you don't have to apply for an unemployment extension because the system automatically applies for you, if you are eligible. It is very important that you keep track of your benefits to make sure you receive your unemployment extension if you are eligible.

If you get close to your unemployment benefits running out, give your unemployment counselor a call to check to see what you have to do in order to get they unemployment extension.

There is another type of unemployment extension called Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED), more commonly referred to as Extended Benefits (EB). You will only qualify for the EB unemployment extension if you have used up all of your regular unemployment benefits and also used up all of your EUC08 unemployment extension.

If you qualify for the EB unemployment extension you will receive additional benefits equal to 20 weeks or 80% of the maximum benefit amount on the original unemployment claim, whichever amount is less.

I read that it was because the NV unemployment rate fell below the required percentage. Nevada is no longer eligible for EUC benefits now.

How will I know if I'm qualified for tier unemployment? I exhausted my tier 3 unemployment yesterday, checked my claimant information page and no information regarding tier 4.

There are 4 tiers in Nevada. The first is 20 weeks, 2nd is 14 weeks, 3rd is 10 week and the last is 6 weeks. I am on my fourth tier and I have received the same amount per week as when I first got it.

As of Dec 29, 2012 my benefits became exhausted. I worked at a restaurant for a 3 day period and was told they were going to take a different direction. I could not remember the dates when I spoke to the representative on the phone. I called the restaurant and they refused to supply me with the dates until March 4th, 2013. I have proof of extensive work search history, was offered positions until my back ground check did not pass, which is something that has never happened to me before. Once I am able to provide the dates of employment and all the proof of the work availability and letters of being declined due to my back ground check, would there be a possibility of eligibility for the FED-ED or EB extension? And is the establishment that employed me for 3 days, with holding the information as to the dates I was in training with them liable for any delays in my chance to receive benefits. I have an income of 445.00 monthly from child support and that only covers the cost of keeping my car on the road in search for work. I am facing eviction, and loss of my utilities. Do I or qualify?

I live in Nevada. I was Let go July 3, 2012. I expired my regular UI benefits. I went on EUC & received a 14 week extension. Is there another TIER available to me? I am confused by the dates NV uses in their tier charts. I have not heard anything one way or the other from NV Unemployment. I was let go after 6 years by a new manager 1 day before my vacation was to start. I am 63 and having a difficult time finding work, I am very qualified and eager to find employment. Cobra Health Insurance payments are $1084,00 per month.
