My son was terminated from his job (one which he had for over 3 years). He appropriately applied for UI benefits and the adjudicator determined that the reason for his separation allowed for payment of benefits. However, his employer has NOW appealed the decision of the adjudicator and it is my understanding that a hearing before an impartial appeal referee is now pending. All this time now, since my son's termination almost 6 weeks ago, he has received NO UI payments... NONE. Will he continue to receive NO payments throughout this process? What if his employer continues in his efforts to disallow benefits, even if they are upheld by the referee, and my son's employer then appeals to the Employment Security Board of Review. What happens if the Employment Security Board of Review affirms my son's eligibility for UI benefits, but his employer then takes his case to court? Does my son still continue to draw NO UI benefits while this entire process plays out?

This situation has become very disconcerting and exasperating and I would certainly appreciate your reply. My son is devastated by what has happened to him these past six weeks and is distraught and mentally exhausted. I'm sure he would be asking these questions if his mental state was up to it.

I am currently receiving unemployment compensation benefits through the state of Nevada. I have been looking for full time work in my state as my full time job. I would like to be able to market myself better by furthering my education. My question is: Will I be able to continue to receive my weekly benefit if I decide to attend an online University while also looking for a job? I would like to take online courses at night or in my spare time not to interfere with my job search or to interfere if I do find employment. It doesn't make sense that the state would just cut me off because I checked the little box that says "I am attending school". I was told that if I check that box, it would throw up red flags and my claim would immediately be denied! Has anyone had any experiences they would like to share? I have seen many other people asking the same questions, but we can never get a straight answer. Thanks.

If I work for a Nevada based company & live in NV but my company has had me working on a job in CA for a few months & will be laying off for a while would I apply for unemployment in NV OR CA?
