How to Reopen an Existing Missouri Unemployment Claim

It may become necessary for you to reopen an existing Missouri unemployment claim if you suspend or cancel your unemployment because you found a job, and then later became unemployed again.

Generally, you can reopen an existing unemployment claim by simply filing a weekly certifcation online or by phone -- just like you did every week when you receiving unemployment previously.

In some cases, it may be necessary to speak to an unemployment counselor or start the process all over again in order to reopen an existing unemployment claim in Missouri. If this is the case, contact your unemployment counselor to get exact instructions on how to proceed.

I tried mid-week to reopen a claim from last year. It ends 10-14-17. I was layed off last week. The new site is very difficult to navigate compared to years past. I thought I reopened the existing claim and even called and spoke to a woman who verified that I did everything correctly. As instructed and already aware of, I waited until Sunday evening to actually file for last week. Again, nothing was easy and I am quite used to navigating different sites and follow instructions well. I got to the point where I was told it was successful. Today however, I checked and found a question marked and saw that apparently the existing claim had not been reopened and that I'd have to call and speak to someone. Your office is closed due to a holiday. In all my years, I have never seen this site set up so user nonfriendly. I will attempt to call again tomorrow. Again, I am hoping to get this resolved as soon as possible
