Missouri Unemployment Rules

In order to receive unemployment benefits in Missouri you must follow these rules:

1. You must be able to work, and are not disabled.
2. You must be actively looking for a job, and keeping a record of your job search.
3. You must file a weekly certification.
4. You must not make more than your weekly wage allowance. In some cases, you will be able to work while collecting unemployment - but only so much per week. Make sure when you apply for unemployment that you are very clear about how much you are able to earn each week. Your unemployment counselor will be able to tell you how much this is.

As long as you follow these Missouri unemployment rules, you will continue to receive your unemployment benefits.

My boyfriend and I work for a company that does not allow anyone in management ot work with peers. He has been promoted to management. I am told that I must either take another job 30 miles away or take a demotion in pay and rank on a shift that he will not be working on. The drop in pay is $1.25 an hour plus no more on my now rank. Can they do this and can they make me change positions and take a pay cut because of my boyfriends new position.

To Whom It May Concern:

I have not been successuful in reaching a real person at the MO claim center by phone. I have a question. I filed my initial claim on 11/9/2012. I received my info packet in the mail stating that I had qualified for unemployment insurance benefits. I have a question that I have not been able to find an answer to in the faq site. Here is my situation: I have been employed with a company in MO for the past three years. I was laid off due to a decline of business, especially during winter. I have to move out of my current residence at end of November and plan to move to Florida to find work, and will be living with my parents until I become stable and able again. How will this affect my unemployment benefits through Missouri. What do I need to know and do so that it does not interrupt my bennefits while I am transitioning? Thank you for your immediate response. Is there a phone number I can call to speak to a real live person (representative )?
