My daughter was getting unemployment on a student waiver after being laid off from a clerical/counselor type position. Apparently the waiver ran out after some time, but when she reported thru Marvin, she kept receiving checks on extensions. She remained in school the entire time, and thought she was on a waiver, but answered yes to looking for work on Marvin as she was advised that was what to answer. Now the uia says she misled them and wants her to pay back 4 times the amount she recieved for last year. She has 8 days of school left and has a job interview tomorrow, but cannot afford to pay back over 4oK dollars to uia when she should have been entitled to what she got. she paid into the system, got laid off, went into debt to go to school to get a nursing degree and now they are hassling her.

Since Michigan unemployment benefits are dropping to 20 weeks effective Jan. 1, 2012, do you still get the 26 weeks of eligibility if you file your claim before Jan. 1?
Example=If I file my online claim on Dec. 26, 2011 but don't receive any benefits until after Jan. 1, will I get the old 26 weeks or the new 20 weeks.?

My situation is somewhat complicated. I have unemployment benefits from Massachusetts and I am a Massachusetts resident. I am self employed part time in Massachusetts.. I am taking care of my mother part time in Michigan due to her being in hospice care and might start a part time job in Michigan. The job in Michigan does not exceed my unemployment benefits and does not have medical insurance. It is very part time. Can I continue getting unemployment benefits from Massachusetts while working part time in Michigan? Can I continue getting reimbursed from the Medical Security Plan in Massachusetts for health insurance? Does Michigan have a medical security plan? Do I need to transfer to Michigan unemployment even though I am continuing to live and work in MA? Who can I talk to about this? Thank you! Rachel

I filed for unemployment and got denied because somehow the numbers got mixed up or something on your part. I have been trying to talk to a person but still have not. Should I redue my claim or keep waiting and waiting to talk to a person if I get through?

I have worked for a day care center for a year at 40 hours. I quit to move and was working for 40+ hours for a retail company. I asked if I was temporary and would be let go after the holidays. I was told no. So i figured yes we would slow down but now I am getting 6 hours a week. I heard I can claim unemployment assistant. Is this true and How?

Exact same thing happened to me, except I did MARVIN online. I did the inquiry online and it's still "pending," even though I just got paid.

It took 5 weeks, but I just got my first direct deposit today. I was able to talk to someone (just keep re-dialing, you'll get through) and they said they are very backed up and it typically takes 6-8 weeks to approve a claim.

i collected unemployment benefits from April until the end of August, and had taxes taken out of my payments. i still have not received any income tax documentation in regard to the benefits i was paid for last year. i have tried several times to call the toll free number listed. however, i'm always given a message about not being able to take my call due to high call volume. is there any other way for me to find out why i haven't received this paperwork? i really need to find out what's going on, so that i can get my taxes taken care of.

I was recently terminated from my job and I wanted to start procedures for my unemployment claim. I've been calling 1-866-500-0017 however the automated system would tell me that they need additional information and hang up or it would say that the line is experiencing some problems. I've been calling all day and at this point I'm aggravated and would like to speak with a actually person. Is there a number I can call to speak to a actual person?

I was let go from my job after 16 years in June 2013. I applied for benefits the following day. I received a cover letter about my 20 weeks of eligibilty about 3 days later. I have been doing the looking for a job and filling out job applications and filing online. I've also been doing the MARVIN online. I have posted inquiries and no response. It has been a month and a half and I can't get ahold of anyone for an answer. My landlord is getting ready to evict me for being behind on the rent. I have not receied anything from the unemployment office since June. What more can I do? I need to pay my rent and bills are starting to pile up. All of the jobs that I have applied for I have not received any calls from for interviews. Please help me.
