Michigan Unemployment Rules

In order to receive unemployment benefits in Michigan you must follow these rules:

1. You must be able to work, and are not disabled.
2. You must be actively looking for a job, and keeping a record of your job search.
3. You must file a weekly certification.
4. You must not make more than your weekly wage allowance. In some cases, you will be able to work while collecting unemployment - but only so much per week. Make sure when you apply for unemployment that you are very clear about how much you are able to earn each week. Your unemployment counselor will be able to tell you how much this is.

As long as you follow these Michigan unemployment rules, you will continue to receive your unemployment benefits.

Hello. I was wondering how unemployeement works. This will be my first time applying. My job is seasonal and will be closing Oct 31 and started in March as a waitress and bartender. How much do I have to make to collect? What percent of my wages will be payed by unemployeement? How many hours a week will I be able to work at a very part time job and still collect?

I am 13 weeks pregnant (11/29/11). I have 20lb weight restriction that my employer does not have light work for me to do. As a result, I am off the schedule and my employer wants for me to fill out an FMLA form even though I have not been working for them at least 12months. I believe I only qualify for FMLA because I am pregnant and I possibly meet the required hours of working for my employer. My question is this, do I absolutely have to agree to signing the FMLA forms? Or is it possible to show the Unemployment agency of Michigan that my husband and I cannot pay our bills (rent, car loan, cell phones, electric, gas, food, and internet) on his paycheck alone?

I have been verbally abused by another employee over and over, I used the open door policy to express my concern. They talked w/them it change for a short time but started again, I went to HR about it and asked to be transferred out, nothing has happened about this. However, I was called in and was written up for bringing down moral in the department and customer complaints, First I had ever been told of anything and the girl I made the complaint against was also called in. I feel like I have been relatiated against. I can't take this stress, can I quit and can I get UB while drawing retirement by Michigan rules? I have been applying for other jobs but can't seem to land one altho I have itnerviews, might be my age I just turned 60.

I would consider contacting an attorney that specializes in labor law. Retaliation in the work place is considered a violation of your civil rights.

I was offered a position where I will be in a sales position, however I was under the impression that if you are offered full time employment while on unemployment, you have to accept the job, otherwise you lose unemployment, is this true or not?

I put in my two weeks and my boss called me yesterday and said they filled my position so i do not need to work my last week. They say they will pay me until wednesday even though on my paperwork it clearly states the 7th. I quit because staff was being treated unfairly and were being disrespected. Am O able to collect unemployment?

I am collecting unemployment benefits and very soon will take a lump sum amount from my pension plan from my second employer who is my base employer. Do I have to report that amount to the unemployment department. If so does the amount from the pension plan reduce my bi-weekly unemployment benefit?
