Maryland Unemployment Eligibility

In order to establish unemployment eligibility in Maryland you have to:

1. Be a resident of Maryland. If you are not a resident of Maryland, but worked in Maryland at your last job, you should still have Maryland unemployment eligibility.
2. Have worked and earned income in Maryland.
3. You must not be disabled.
4. You must be able to work.
5. You must be actively looking for a new job.
6. You must have lost your job through no fault of your own. If you quit your job or were fired for 'just cause' you may not be eligible to collect unemployment in Maryland. Every case is different, so if you lost your job -- be sure to apply to unemployment in case you are indeed eligible to receive unemployment benefits.

There are special rules that apply to unemployment elibility for military personnel and union workers, so check with your mility or union representative for these rules.

I have a family member that is going on maternity leave. However, the employer does not have a short term disability, so they are asking her to resign but not guaranteed of her employment after she delivers. She is not qualified for FMLA because she has not been working with this agency for 12 months yet. WIll she qualify for umemployment in the state of Maryland?

how much in earnings can you make each week without benefits being reduced?
For instance, I was paid one last day's pay of $200.00 for the week. Would my benefit be reduced if I am eligible for the $430 max?

I work as a "temp" Graphic Designer for a company under contract. It is basically a full-time position in which I work 40 hours a week, I just don't receive benefits like a full-time employee would. Once the contract is up, is it at all possible to receive unemployment?

I lost my job in 2008 when my employer went out of business..
I worked as a consultant for this employer until 2010. Since that time I have not been able to find work other than intermittent consulting work. I am eligible to receive benefits?

Thanks

5 months ago I left my job for another job (I was provided a letter of intent from the new company). There was supposed to be a one month (at most) break between paychecks. It has been 5 months and still no work. Am I eligible for benefits?

I was re-hired in November for what I was told at the time was a two-month only, temporary, holiday employment with the same company that laid me off last February. Now, four days before we were set to close and I was to be laid off again, they've decided to stay open. I found two month residence for this temp. job and I will have to move as planned out of the area and cannot continue to work there. Will I be eligible for unemployment?

My employer does not have work currently for me but does not want to give me a temporary layoff or a regular layoff. Therefore I have not drawn a salary in about 3 weeks. I think they want me to quit so they will not have to pay unemployment and then hire me back when work picks up. Is there something that unemployment can do to help me out> Thank you

I was with a Maryland company for 3 years. Got offered another job in the same field and took it. On job 2 days and the company was notified that the contract was being protested by losing competitor. While protest is occurring, I am now laid off. Can I receive unemployment? Does the 2 days only on the job effect this even though I had steadily employed in Maryland for years?

i was told by a couple of people at my job that if we do not get our hours that we can file for unemployment for the lost hours is this true. Because my husband went to the hospital earlier in the month and and since then his job has not been having enough work to go around for everyone so he hasnt worked for them since he was in the hospital can he collect unemployment ?
