Louisiana Unemployment Extension - Extended Benefits (EB)

There is another type of unemployment extension called Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED), more commonly referred to as Extended Benefits (EB). You will only qualify for the EB Extended Benefits unemployment extension if you have used up all of your regular unemployment benefits and also used up all of your EUC08 unemployment extension.

If you qualify for the EB Extended Benefits unemployment extension you will receive additional benefits equal to 20 weeks or 80% of the maximum benefit amount on the original unemployment claim, whichever amount is less.

Louisiana CAN give an additional 20 weeks of EB benefits paid for by the federal government BUT HAVE NOT REINSTATED IT!!! Call the governors office, state representatives , and the office of unemployment and complain! I have contacted all of them.

I've been trying to get someone on the phone for over a month at the 866 number. the system is designed to hang up on you. due to "high call volume or having difficulty." I'm trying to claim extended benefits and have been filing non stop. We are losing everything and I have a new baby. How do we file for EUC? Please help us.

How do I apply for extended unemployment benefits. my benefits ended 2 weeks ago and I still dont have a job or any prospect for one. I have applied for 309 different state jobs in the last year and have been declared eligible for approx. 285, but I have only been to 3 interviews for state jobs.

My UI was exhausted last week, they sent me a letter saying if I am still unemployed in september (my benefit year end) then I can reapply. I worked at my job for 17 years and was laid off due to position elimination. Apparently they are not taking applications for EUC right now and the 866 number just keeps hanging up on people. This is bullcrap, it is there to be paid yet they wont reinstate it? This state is a joke, the UI must be one of the lowest in the country.....
