Louisiana Unemployment Office

Sometimes it is difficult to get through to the LA unemployment phone number, or you have questions that the website just can't answer, so you have to go to talk to someone face to face at the LA unemployment office.

There is probably a LA unemployment office in your town or county. Most states have one in every county. Be prepared though. Many people are applying for unemployment at the same time, and your local Louisiana unemployment office could be very crowded, and you might have to wait in long lines in order to see someone.

Here are some tips when going to the LA unemployment office:

1. Go early. Be there at least 1 hour before the office opens.
2. Dress appropriately. It will be very hot in the summer, and very cold in the winter. Dress appropriately for the temperature and time of year.
3. Pack a lunch. You will probably have to wait a long time in line, and will probably get hungry. Pack a lunch and bring lots of water to drink to stay hydrated.
4. Bring your medicine. If you take medications that you can't miss - make sure you bring all of the medicine that you will have to take for that day, just in case you are there all day long.
5. Bring a pen or pencil. You will need one to fill out the application and to take notes.

Can I claim unemployment insurance and work 1-2 days at another job I was just offered? If so how do I go about informing the unemployment office of this? I can never get through over the phone. Thanks!

I have been unable to get money off my Chase unemployment card because I cannot get a PIN set up. I just got on Louisiana unemployment about a month ago. I had drawn it several years ago but they have now changed their site and have a new HIRE system I have to go through. When I first tried to sign up it would not allow me to because I was in the old system & could not sign up in the new system because it said my SS number was already in use. I had to go to a local LA Career Center office to get this resolved. I was asked if I still had my debit card & I told them I did not so they were suppose to have a new one sent but they never did. after about 2 weeks after having unemployment payments made but no card I called Chase. They told me they had never sent me a new card. I had to verify my SS #, birth date, address, etc for them to even talk to me during that call. I finally got the new card a couple of weeks ago & Chase will not allow me to set up a PIN number because they say my birth date is not correct & the unemployment people must have sent the wrong info. I have since then went back to the local office who says it is correct in their system & say they cannot do anything about it, I have to call the 800 #. I have tried numerous times daily to get through to the 800 # but am left on hold every time, even when I leave a number for them to call me back they have left me on hold for times in excess of 45 minutes!
It is basically impossible to get in touch with anyone. I verified my birth date with Chase the first time I called them & everything went through fine but now they say teh date is incorrect. I do not know what else to do, do you have any suggestions?
