Louisiana Unemployment If You Get Fired

Generally, in Louisiana you have to have lost your job through no fault of your own in order to collect unemployment.

In most cases, this means that if you get fired, you cannot collect unemployment benefits.

If you get fired from your job, you should go ahead and apply for unemployment benefits, because there are some cases where you can be fired from your job and still get benefits.

If you feel like you were fired unfairly, or there were extenuating circumstances, be sure to tell you unemployment counselor about them. If your unemployment application is denied because you were fired, you also have the right to appeal the decision.

While working at this company, I've heard someone shouting obscenities at people, directing them to get in her office. My supervisor has told me "it's time to get our ti$!(breast) on the desk and our as*!@(behinds) in the air.
I've made the comment that we work like hell in our dept and people agree. Yesterday, one of the girls got a promotion to the floor above and I said (joking) she's moving on up from the pitts of hell. I said that early in the morning. My supervisor came in my office that afternoon with someone from Human Resources and told me to stop what I was doing and to leave.
She said don't come back to work until Wednesday and that I needed to think hard if I really wanted my job because what I said was totally inappropriate and horrible. She said the company had to decide if they wanted to keep someone like me around.
First of all, I was joking and secondly, people working there have said much worse.
I've had good evaluations, and I received a raise at the beginning of the year for doing such an outstanding job.

My question - I think they are going to fire me tomorrow. Will I be able to collect unemployment??
