Indiana Unemployment Extension

If your Indiana unemployment benefits have run out you may be eligible to receive extended unemployment benefits through one of the state or federal unemployment extension programs.

This federal unemployment extension programs is called Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (Also known as EUC08).

Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (EUC08) includes 4 stages, or tiers. Each tier has a different maximum time period for which your unemployment extension will last:

Tier 1 EUC08: 20 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 2 EUC08: 14 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 3 EUC08: 13 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 4 EUC08: 6 week maximum unemployment extension.

If you use up all of your regular unemployment benefits, normally you don't have to apply for an unemployment extension because the system automatically applies for you, if you are eligible. It is very important that you keep track of your benefits to make sure you receive your unemployment extension if you are eligible.

If you get close to your unemployment benefits running out, give your unemployment counselor a call to check to see what you have to do in order to get they unemployment extension.

There is another type of unemployment extension called Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED), more commonly referred to as Extended Benefits (EB). You will only qualify for the EB unemployment extension if you have used up all of your regular unemployment benefits and also used up all of your EUC08 unemployment extension.

If you qualify for the EB unemployment extension you will receive additional benefits equal to 20 weeks or 80% of the maximum benefit amount on the original unemployment claim, whichever amount is less.

I had been on the federal extension for some time. I recently started a contract job. The company is shutting down for ten working days for the holiday and I will receive no compensation. Will I be eligle for unemployment for that week? I still have a claim that has an open status.

If I am running down to my last payment of my first extension how do I file for the second extension? Does this happen automatically, or do I have to file and how do I do that?

I've been told that these are no longer available in 2012. Is this true? When was this page last updated? Does anyone ever answer these questions?

I received a partial payment on my unemployment card today because I did not have enough left of my max benefit amount to equal my weekly benefit amount. My question/concern is, will I qualify, and if so when, for the 1st tier of the federal funded unemployment extension if I have only been receiving my initial benefits for 14 weeks? I can only find information on extensions after the initial 26 weeks. Do I have to wait until I reach 26 weeks since my initial max benefit amount is exhausted? There is nothing on my homepage guiding me on this and I have not received any communications through the mail or my e-mail. Any help/guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am currently on the federal extended benefits that end on December 29th 2012 and still have 1900 dollars remaining I'm wondering if I just get my weekly balance that I've been getting or do I get all of that since it's ending..
