Tier 4 EUC08: 6 week maximum unemployment extension.

If your Illinois unemployment benefits run out you might be eligible to receive extended unemployment benefits through one of the state or federal unemployment extension programs.

This federal unemployment extension programs is called Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (Also known as EUC08).

Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (EUC08) includes 4 stages, or tiers. Each tier has a different maximum time period for which your unemployment extension will last:

It is very important that you keep track of your benefits to make sure you receive your unemployment extension if you are eligible.

If you get close to your unemployment benefits running out, give your unemployment counselor a call to check to see what you have to do in order to get they unemployment extension.

I ran out of unemployment in Oct. 2011 I am working only 1 day a wk. in retail. I apply for jobs daily and never have had trouble finding jobs in my life as I work in medical field. I received the whole 99 wks. Are there any other extensions available? I can't survive much longer.

I have worked hard my entire life and now am looking poverty straight in the face. I have been a lifelong democrat, but suddenly after receiving some unemployment comp for help and after getting IN WRITING that I would be able to survive at least till January with some small benefits, Illinois has pulled out the rug & reneged on my final 5 months of comp! I was getting close to a new job and now have NOTHING to cintinue my search efforts. THANKS ALOT, MR. PRESIDENT & GOVERNOR QUINN!

I received an e-mail several weeks ago indicating that I may qualify for Tier 4 unemployment benefits. The e-mail indicated that I should call my local umemployment office. I did. I spoke to someone who told me that I do qualify for the benefits and that I would receive a letter indicating what I needed to do to get the benefits. Almost 4 weeks have passed and I still haven't received a letter. When I call my unemployment office, I get a message indicating that there are so many people calling that no calls are being accepted.
I haven't gone to the office because it's always crowded and I know that I would just be sent back home and told to wait for the letter I need.
