I just received a letter from IDES. I believe I am entering Tier 3 as of Monday, Feb.21, 2011. I was dismissed from my job on February 6, 2009. I don't recall when the final determination of my eligiility was approved but I received my first check in March of '09. The amount, $196 weekly, without the FAC, was based on the last quarter of 2008 and the first three quarters of 2009. The letter I just received said my weekly benefit is now $102. I thought my benefit amount remained the same throughout the four tiers and EB. Can you help me understand this. Of course, I am going to go to my Unemployment office.

I was laid off in Nov. 2010 and just received a bonus check for the portion of 2010 that I worked for the company. Do I claim this amount in my weekly benefits of services rendered for the week I received the check?

I attended college and still collected unemployment. I obtained a business degree. When asked on the form whether I attended college, I answered yes. Shortly thereafter I received a notice from Unemployment to schedule a call with me. They confirmed my start and planned end date for school - which they documented in the system - and then I was clear to always answer YES to the attending school question. Without this meeting/call, my benefits would have stopped - they scheduled it with me. So I don't see any issue for you.

I have been getting unemployment benefits in IL since July. I was offered a part time job & started yesterday. However, I just realized that by the time I figured out the wages & travel expenses, I will not be making any more than the unemployment, which is less than my previous full time job. Can I quit the new p/t job and still collect unemployment? or am I stuck w/ this job until I can find a better full time job?

I was laid off at the end of February 2011 and received unemployment. Starting August 28th I started freelancing/temping over 40 hours a week. It's the companies busy season and they needed extra temp help. I will finish freelancing/temping for the company on Nov 15th. Will I still be eligible for unemployment?

I found seasonal work, and reported my orientation pay ($50 gross for five hours) when I certified, marking as "holiday pay" and also the "Did you Work?" question...When I got paid from IDES, my amount was reduced by $42. Is this correct, or am I misunderstandin g "holiday pay?"

Holiday pay refers to a holiday, like Christmas, which a worker will sometimes receive time and a half pay. For example if you were paid $10/hr at your job and you worked on Christmas, your pay would actually be $15/hr (time and a half) You should not answer yes to the question about holiday pay unless you actually worked a holiday. Seasonal work just refers to work done in a particular season:summer,f all, winter, and spring.

I was offered occasional work, paid via 1099 when work is available. This work is occasional week by week, so how does this effect my unemployment. Specifically I expect to work 25 hours this week and nothing next week. So my next reporting period do I get no unemployment pay 1st week and then unemployment the 2nd week?

Hi, I live in Illinois. My Employer is having difficulties giving us good checks, they bounce or don't have money in their payroll account to cover the check issued, so its not even worth putting in or trying to cash at there bank. If I leave my job because of this reason, am I entitled to unemployment benefits?

I filed for unemployment online on January 3rd 2012. I have not received any confirmation that I am approved for it in the mail or in an email. I called the automated number and it has the amount I should be getting paid out connected with my social. Should I receive a letter or will I have the money deposited into my account?I signed up for direct deposit. If so when should I expect my first check?

I am a 4th year teacher and this is my tenure year. My public school employer has just notified me that they will not be giving me a contract for the next school year. They stated that I must resign by March 1st and then they will not fight my unemployment request if I make one for the next school year. Other wise, they will fire me and fight any unemployment. Their reason for not rehiring me is that I don't communicate well with someone but would not say if it was students, parents or staff. I do not plan on resigning. How does this affect my unemployment if I don't find a position for the next school term?

I am currently on unemployment in il and am about to have my first child- I am working part time and have been reportipng my income as well as searching for jobs- I am going to continue working part time right after the baby is born from home for a few weeks until I go back to the actual office as I do graphics and do not need full maternity leave so if I am technically still working even a couple hours per day right after the baby and still available for work and looking for full time do I need to stop my benefits for maternity leave if I won't really be on a leave????

I was laid off from my job and will never get called back. I've been looking for work but nothing has come up in 10 months of trying. I'm thinking of going into business for myself. Can I continue to collect unemployment while I build business, or at least earn some money from it?
