Florida Unemployment Job Search Requirements

In order to keep receiving Florida unemployment benefits you have to meet ongoing job search requirements. Unemployment benefits are meant to be a temporary benefit until you find a new job, so these job search requirements are in place to make sure you are actively looking for a new job.

Florida Job Search Requirements are:
1. You must be actively be looking for a job.
2. YOu must make at least 5 job contacts per week. Job contacts include filling out job applications and sending resumes.
3. You must keep a record of all of your job search activities, including a record of all job contacts.
4. You must not be disabled. If you are disabled there are different programs available to help you and your unemployment counselor or local unemployment office can direct you to those resources. (These resources include Social Security Disability).

You must fulfill these job search requirements every week, and provide a weekly certification to let the unemployment office that you are meeting all of the requirements. Be sure to have your job search record up to date, as you may be called into the unemployment office for a periodic eligibility review.

I did not claim my benefits for two periods. Now unemployment said I won't get paid until the date I started reporting again or called in to inform them?
Can I appeal this?

I've been trying to hire someone in the Miami Area for months. Five out of six applicants do not show up or call to cancel the interview. Some have shared they are collecting unemployment. This seems an abuse of the benefit if a candidate doesn't come in for the scheduled interview.

Is there a site or a number to call to report something like this? If these candidates don't show up and are collecting unemployment, shouldn't it be reported?

Thank you.

"YOu must make at least 2 job contacts per week."

WRONG!!!!

WRONG!!!!!

THE REQUIREMENT IN FLORIDA IS A MINIMUM OF 5 JOB SEARCHES PER WEEK !!

5, NOT 2!

FIVE-NOT TWO

A pretty major error for a supposed information site! Hopefully not too many have been misled by your incompetence!

Marty is correct, it's 5 and I was going to say that too. However, some counties require 3, usually smaller counties, so people need to check. In any case, if you really want a job you will be working it harder than just to get by on minimum.

I have been filling unemployment for just over one month now. It has changed a lot since the last time I was forced to claim back in 2011. I went through the skills review and also document at least 5 employers that I have actively persued each week as I am trying my hardest to get a new job. I just completed my appeal process and the employer refused to particapate. Unemployment tells me that along with everything else I was also suppose to send my resume in to someone? Do you know how I'm able to fix this situation at this time and complete what ever there now saying is missing so I can get what I'm due? Thanks for any help!!
