Delaware Unemployment If You Get Fired

Generally, in Delaware you have to have lost your job through no fault of your own in order to collect unemployment.

In most cases, this means that if you get fired, you cannot collect unemployment benefits.

If you get fired from your job, you should go ahead and apply for unemployment benefits, because there are some cases where you can be fired from your job and still get benefits.

If you feel like you were fired unfairly, or there were extenuating circumstances, be sure to tell you unemployment counselor about them. If your unemployment application is denied because you were fired, you also have the right to appeal the decision.

I was wondering if I can collect unemployment while searcing fo a new job. I worked for the same company for 12 years. This past Nov I gave birth to my son.Due to being out on maternity, I used all vacation and flex time on top of disability due to post pardum depression. On Jan 1 I placed my 2 month old into daycare so I could return to wrok. Upon doing so, he got sick. You cannot take your chil to daycare sick, so I stayed home with him. I was told I abandoned my job because I had no time to cover being out.

What should I do if you know your employer is trying to fire or lay you off or make you quit the job, without good reason? How do I prepare myself in order to collect unemployment if this happens?

If I accepted another position at my job which is full time and 1 month later I decided to sign up for school for more than 1 class which makes me available for pt work only could my job fire me? Would I be able to get unemployment?

If I accepted another position at my job that was full time and 1 month later I signed up for school for a few classes during the day which made me drop my hours at work to part time, could my job fire me? Would I be able to get unemployment during the time I'm in school?

Why would you think that changing your availability would be ok after taking on full time hours?
You said you could do full time, then all of a sudden, you couldn't. The job and your life outside the job are two different things. Something has to give. Either work full time or work part time somewhere and go to school. But you can't take on a full time job (obviously they needed the full time work from you) and then tell the company a month the way...I can't do this...that sounds like falsifying your application to me.
