How to Cancel Connecticut Unemployment

When you find a new job you can no longer receive Connecticut unemployment benefits and may need to officially cancel your Connecticut unemployment.

In order to cancel your unemployment claim, you can:

1. Call, send a letter, or email to your unemployment counselor letting them know that you have found a new job.
2. Stop filing your weekly certification.

If you happen to receive an unemployment check while you are working, make sure to call your unemployment counselor to let them know. You may need to return the check - but this will be better than any possible penalties that you could be responsible for if you are found to be recieving unemployment benefits while working.

Hi,I had filed an claim for unemployment benefits last week.I want to drop the claim due to the fact that I am physically unable to return to work. I have a permanent disability and would be unable to seek work.I cannot collect L.O.A. pay from my job...and I don't meet the criteria to be eligible for work. I don't want a hearing date set up due to the fact that I don't want to waste everyone that would be involved time.Afyer extensive research I now realized that I will not be eligible for benefits. Thank you

I had applied for unemployment benefits last week. I am on a L.O.A from my job due to degenerative disc disease. I can no longer perform my job duties due to doctors orders. I actually am disabled to the point in which I am always in physical pain. I wouldn't be elidgable for benefits due to the fact that I cannot actively seek work at this time. Please cancel my initial claim...when I made the initial claim I thought maybe I could perform some other line of work Now I realized that I can't even do that because it pains me to sit or stand for long periods of time. Please cancel my initial claim so as not to waste people time with a hearing. I am no longer going to file.Thank You
