Arizona Unemployment If You Get Fired

Generally, in Arizona you have to have lost your job through no fault of your own in order to collect unemployment.

In most cases, this means that if you get fired, you cannot collect unemployment benefits.

If you get fired from your job, you should go ahead and apply for unemployment benefits, because there are some cases where you can be fired from your job and still get benefits.

If you feel like you were fired unfairly, or there were extenuating circumstances, be sure to tell you unemployment counselor about them. If your unemployment application is denied because you were fired, you also have the right to appeal the decision.

I fired an employee. He was denied benfits. He appealed. It went to a hearing and the judge ruled in favor of our company. About a year later this individual filed again for unemployment and my company was charged against our account. Even though the judgement was in favor of our company how can AZ DES still charge our account?

I was fired from an employer. My employer is a small mom-and-pop shop. They let me and several other people go. The "long timers"were let go without-cause, meaning they can claim unemployment. The short timer (me) was let go "with cause".

My boss was let go at the same time and he told me the owner was running out of money and I was fired "with cause" so he wouldn't have to pay unemployment.

What can I do? I have no "warnings" or "write ups" or anything of the kind.

I have a ? I'm not unemployed at this time but I am afraid I'm might be losing my job. I forgot to recertified my license and my boss told me I couldn't work till I recertify. There is a fee of course and I don't have the money and might have to wait till I can pay which can be 2 more weeks or longer. I asked if I could work in the front of the store were no certification is not needed and was told there was no hours. I was working part time and now with no hours have no means. If I was fired due to this issue would I qualify?

I was "let go" because "I was no longer needed" and "it just isn't working out" after almost 2 years of working there. Am I eligible for unemployment benefits?

My 2 'bosses' fired me after 15 months without a single performance review, and after both of my immediate supervisors resigned.
I strongly suspect that instead of relying on their own investigation into my work, they lazily conferred with a weaselly co-worker to determine whether I needed to go as well. My initial claim was denied. I appealed with a letter stating the facts. They did not contest it. They would have needed to show proof that my work was inadequate, or that I caused some sort of harm to the company. They couldn't. Eligibility was granted. Always file, always appeal. Don't let the Right-to work nazis get their way. if you are fired, TAKE ACTION!

I work as a third party for a Fortune 500 company. I have been written up for call riding and will be surprised if I have a job in two weeks. I have NOT been extending the length of my calls, but my calls are the longest in the place. My sales turnover is also the highest but suddenly that is no longer an asset. They have already had a recorded admin hearing in which I was forced to admit I did not handle the call the best. I knew i was without resources to please the customer and instead of making it look like I had tried and not found the info, I really did try every avenue but the customer wanted to be transferred to someone else and the other dept stalled like crazy (which is their form of forcing us to look like we are extending calls while they look productive because they have more calls than they can properly handle. If a favored employee had my stats they would be coached, and it would be taken into consideration that their call length increased when this new system started. I'm a marked person and I know it. They are not happy to see me squirm, over 2/3 of our office is gone and a new class all look under 21 so maybe they can survive on $10 an hr. All I want is a safety net if the worst happens as I live paycheck to paycheck.

I'be worked for the same small business owner for almost a decade. My boss took a position at a big firm, and wanted me to go with him since I am his right hand man. With this position he wanted me to get a securities license. I informed him that I had convictions in the past which had been vacated & dismissed. He talked to the legal department of the firm & told me it would be fine. I first applied to the firm for fingerprint clearance 7 months ago. I applied for hire 5 months ago, which is when I was scheduled to start. I was in an accident & finally started a month & a half ago. I have been working both jobs because he still needed me at his own business too. This set t up had me working full time hours with part time benefits. Yesterday I was told by my boss that I was being terminated from both businesses due to a charge almost 9 years old, which has been vacated & dismissed. I don't see how the company could hire then fire me for something disclosed before being fired. Also, my boss of all these years never did a background check or asked if there was anything in my past. I can't see how it could be legal to terminate me for it now. Could this even possibly be a "just cause" termination, and would I qualify for unemployment benefits? Please advise.

I always file my weekly job interview report on sunday to receive my check for the next week
I cannot access the web page for Arizona (
I get error 502 all day
