Arizona Unemployment Requirements

In order to start your unemployment, AZ unemployment requirements include the following:

1. You are totally unemployed. Depending on your vocation and industry, you may qualify for unemployment if you have had your hours reduced.
2. You have worked and earned a minimum amount of wages in work covered by unemployment tax during the past 18 months.
3. You have lost your job through no fault of your own. If you were laid-off you will qualify for unemployment. In most cases, if you were fired for cause - you will not be eligible to collect unemployment. If you were fired for cause, you SHOULD apply for unemployment anyway, just in case you are eligible to get it.
4. You are able and available for work. If you are unable to work because of disability or medical condition, you may not meet the Arizona unemployment requirements, but you should apply anyway. If you are not eligible for unemployment, you may be eligible to collect disability benefits, and the case worker at the unemployment office will be able to direct you on how to apply for disability.
5. You are registered for work at your local Workforce Development Center. You must do this when you apply for unemployment, and every week when you certify your weekly claim.
6. You are actively seeking work. You must apply to a minimum of two jobs per week.

To continue receiving weekly unemployment benefits, AZ unemployment requirements state that you must file a 'weekly claim' by doing the following:

1. Meet all of the AZ unemployment requirements listed above.
2. Apply for at least two jobs each week.
3. Contact the Arizona unemployment office to file your 'weekly claim'. You can do this via phone or on the internet.

I was laid off on Monday, and I have to relocate to Portland, OR in order to have support. Can I still collect if I am looking for work there?

If I receive a pension from a job I worked years ago because of an injury on that job, but I still have to work, and I had a job which I lost, can I still get unemployment because I do not make enough money for living?

My husband and I were going to divorce. I quit a 11 yr job, relocated to another state, had another job for a month. Husband got very ill; I returned to Arizona and have reconciled to keep our family unit together. I have been denied unemployment. I have been told certain family issues such as mine can be appealed. What is the Arizona statute covering this? Help!

Hello, I worked at a single company for 2 years and 8 months and quit due to a hostile work environment in mid-August, 2012. I just recently found a job, but it is temporary, ending in January. Would I qualify for any unemployment benefits, even if small?

I worked at a storage unit for about 3 years I told them I was preg and had a doc not proving it as well as weight restrictions. I felt like It was preg discrimination at that job due to they were still making me lift the over size limits and I found another part time job due to my preg and wasn't getting paid enough to support him and I ended up going to the doc and they sent me to the er that same day and I called in and I had a doc not the next time I went in she called me a week later and told me I was being fired for not being reliable when it was one day and I hardly called off I know it is preg discrimination can I still apply if I have a part time job that doesn't pay much and I got fired for that??
