Arizona Unemployment Extension

If your Arizona unemployment benefits have run out you may be eligible to receive extended unemployment benefits through one of the state or federal unemployment extension programs.

This federal unemployment extension programs is called Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (Also known as EUC08).

Emergency Unemployment Compensation, 2008 (EUC08) includes 4 stages, or tiers. Each tier has a different maximum time period for which your unemployment extension will last:

Tier 1 EUC08: 20 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 2 EUC08: 14 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 3 EUC08: 13 week maximum unemployment extension.
Tier 4 EUC08: 6 week maximum unemployment extension.

If you use up all of your regular unemployment benefits, normally you don't have to apply for an unemployment extension because the system automatically applies for you, if you are eligible. It is very important that you keep track of your benefits to make sure you receive your unemployment extension if you are eligible.

If you get close to your unemployment benefits running out, give your unemployment counselor a call to check to see what you have to do in order to get they unemployment extension.

There is another type of unemployment extension called Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED), more commonly referred to as Extended Benefits (EB). You will only qualify for the EB unemployment extension if you have used up all of your regular unemployment benefits and also used up all of your EUC08 unemployment extension.

If you qualify for the EB unemployment extension you will receive additional benefits equal to 20 weeks or 80% of the maximum benefit amount on the original unemployment claim, whichever amount is less.

started claim in july 2010 and am 3 weeks from the end of sequence one tier two. with tiers 3 and 4 ahead of me totalling 19 weeks (plus the 3 weeks in tier one remaining), i'm only 14 weeks away from the calendar year, july 23, 2011 effectively ending my claim (i think). do i get paid through the end of tier four or through 7/23 which is 12 months from when my claim began?
thx.

started my claim 7/23/10. after a snag at year end (census doesn't report earnings, i had to prove the income), i'm now on sequence one tier two with three weeks remaining. tiers three and four are ahead of me totalling 19 weeks. add the three that emain on tier one and that puts me past 12 months.
my question is this: do i continue to receive benefits through 7/23/11 or through the end of tier four (4 or 5 weeks later)?
thx.

I heard on the news that Arizona opted NOT to extend benefits to those who are still collecting unemployment after 29 weeks. Is this true and if so when will benefits stop? Fyi, I have a part time job and have had for the last year and a half, however I make minimum wage and therefore do not make even half of what I did at my old job (where I was laid off) which is why I'm still collecting unemployment (they deduct my earnings from my unemployment). Basically I live on $240 a week (sad, I know.)

In Arizona it is legal to collect unemployment insurance while simultaneously receiving social security benefits. I am currently collecting both. At the end of 26 weeks would I be able to receive extended unemployment from the feds and still collect social security?

Alright...I moved from Arizona to Missouri in July 2010 because my husband was relocated due to his job. I started working in Missouri and in May 2011 my husband's company was sold to another company and he was told he would have to move back to Arizona. So, I had to quit my job, again, and move with my family. Once in AZ a friend told me to apply for Unemployment and I was approved due to a "compelling personal reason". That claim ran out and I was told to call MO and apply for a new claim there. Well, the state laws are different there and they denied me. Question is: Can I get a Federal Extension through AZ if MO denies me? Should I file an appeal in MO? Need help!!!

If I file an extension and the claim is accepted with a confirmation number, does that mean I am approved and file as I was previously? Will I need to report to the office initially or weekly to report work search requirements (differently than before)?

If I read the AZUI site correctly, essentially, there is no change other than the previous stipulations.

I lived in Maryland when I filed a claim with the state of CA (I worked for a CA company in DC and unemployment insurance was paid to the state of CA). I now live in AZ and my original claim is coming to an end. CA can only pay federal extension through December 18th. Can I elect to file my Federal Extension in Arizona since they do not have the stipulation of December 18

I have been laid off since November 2011. I am currently receiving unemployment from the state of CA (never lived there). I currently reside in Arizona and have been trying to get answers about attending an approved vendor additonal training. I am a records management professional and this additional training/certification would allow me to find a job within 30 days. The training cost $3,000. Trying to find out how to get funds to pay for the training. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have exhausted both my unemployment and the federal extension I checked on the AZ unemployment website and it says that there is no other extensions. But at the top of this website it says "There is another type of unemployment extension called Federal-State Extended Duration (FED-ED), more commonly referred to as Extended Benefits (EB). You will only qualify for the EB unemployment extension if you have used up all of your regular unemployment benefits and also used up all of your EUC08 unemployment extension." I can't find any information on this and need it desperately can you help please?
