Arizona Unemployment Eligibility

In order to establish unemployment eligibility in Arizona you have to:

1. Be a resident of Arizona. If you are not a resident of Arizona, but worked in Arizona at your last job, you should still have Arizona unemployment eligibility.
2. Have worked and earned income in Arizona.
3. You must not be disabled.
4. You must be able to work.
5. You must be actively looking for a new job.
6. You must have lost your job through no fault of your own. If you quit your job or were fired for 'just cause' you may not be eligible to collect unemployment in Arizona. Every case is different, so if you lost your job -- be sure to apply to unemployment in case you are indeed eligible to receive unemployment benefits.

There are special rules that apply to unemployment elibility for military personnel and union workers, so check with your mility or union representative for these rules.

I have the same question actually. I found out today that my last day of work was yesterday. Employer says they can't afford to pay me anymore, but I was still within my probationary period.

My employer recently told me that I was fired but I could continue to work for another 2-3 weeks to give an opportunity to look for a job. This guy couldnt care less if I have a job is he trying to pull a fast one so I am somehow not eligible for unemployment benefits? Just a side note, he fired me because I couldn't manage he his spanish speaking staff but being bilingual was never a condition of the job. The truth is that he hired me when he thought SB1070 was going to be an issue and he needed a "white" chef. Now that it doesnt seem to be enforced he's no longer worried about it and knows that there are illegal workers that will do my job for less just as he has always done.

Please help, I dont want to get tricked into not getting any benefits...its going to be hard enough to support my family.

I recently received a card in the mail for UI benefits, does this mean that I will receive anything on it? My situation is pretty sticky so I was confused when I got the card in the mail, because I was sure that I needed a hearing in my case as I quit my job because I apparently had a better one lined up, but that did not go through as the company decided otherwise. Now I was allowed to file my claim Sunday(today) and was told to wait till Monday @ 7:00 am to have further information disclosed. Why am I left in anticipation?

I was fired about a month ago from a job because they said I stole money, which I did not do. I worked in a retail situation and monies were never missing from the cash drawers or the safe when my shift ended. I filed for unemployment and was found disqualified because of the paperwork sent in by my former boss. I have filed an appeal and do not know how to defend myself from this group. Some of the paperwork in my appeals packet were never presented to me and may have been "written up" after the fact. I'm sure my former employer is fighting this because I have filed a suit with the EEOC. I was fired 5 months after filing a harassment complaint against a fellow manager. The suit was filed on behalf of a junior employee who made the allegation to me.

I was hired as a technical support representative and worked without incident for over a year. At the beginning of the year, my job requirements changed, and now I am expected to be a sales person. I did not apply for a sales job. I would never have taken a sales job, as I know I am not good at sales. I now hate my job, and the pressure on me to make sales is making me ill. I've reached a point where I feel like I would rather die than go to work some days. I wonder if I would qualify for benefits if I quit?

My husband is physically disabled and now his mental capacity is deminishing. All my family live in another state. And my husband's condition has progressed so far we need to relocate to be near to family. I have not submitted my resignation yet, but my employer is aware of my husband's health issues and has been very supportive. Will I qualify for unemployment if/when I resign because I am compelled to live in another state to care for my disabled husband?

I work for a school district as a para educator. Every year our boss has the para educators sign a form that says we are "At Will" employees. There is a chance that one or two of us will be let go at the end of this school year because there are no funds to pay us/budget will be smaller. Can we file for unemployment? Thank you.

I need to quit my job as a Phlebotomist of nearly 4 years due to the distance and travel time. Will I be able to collect unemployment ? I have tried to get transfered to a location closer to my home,in the same city, but my employer refuses to make the change. I have also asked for paid milage, because other employees HAVE recieved it. I was denied that as well. I travel nearly 60 mi round trip. My husband travels about 80 miles a day round trip as well. We had to move to the city of Maricopa to help us financially and because of the school system for our kids. We just didn't expect my company (LABCORP) to fall short of being loyal and compassionate to thier employees.

I was a school teacher for 6 years but chose not to sign my contract prior to last school year. I chose to stay home because my wife and I had a very unexpected third child. Since we could not afford childcare for 3 kids and my wife makes more money than I did we decided that I should stay home. I have been actively searching for a job for months now but have not found one. Is there any way for me to qualify for unemployment?

I'm a contractor, a resident of Arizona, worked overseas, for a company whose headquarters is located in New Jersey. The company does do business here in Arizona and because of this situation I was able to have state taxes taken from my pay. My question is will I be able to collect UI from Arizona?

I have not received my benefits in over 2 weeks what taking these people so long? I am not able to pay all of my bills due to this. THanks

I will be relocating to AZ from NJ, due to my wife's job; I have not been able to find employment in AZ and would like to know if I’m eligible for benefits? I was not fired or laid off from work in NJ. How does a change in state affect eligibility?
