What Happens If I Forget To File My Weekly Certification?
It is very important to file your weekly certification every week, and on time, because if you forget to file your weekly certification:
- You won't get paid for that week.
- Your unemployment claim could go into an inactive status, or
- Your unemployment claim could get cancelled.
It can be really difficult, and a big hassle, to reinstate an inactive or cancelled claim. In some situations, you may not be able to.
The Unemployment Handbook would like to help you remember to file your weekly certification by sending you a reminder email every week.
This a free service, open to everyone, and you can cancel it at any time.
To sign up, just fill out the form below. If you don't know what day you are supposed to file your weekly certification, that's fine - just choose 'I don't know' and we'll send you an email every Monday - because this is the day when most people file their weekly certification.
If you have family or friends that are collecting unemployment, let them know about this service too - so that they don't forget to file their weekly certification either.
