Default scenario of har***ment

I was wondering if I would be eligible for unemployment with the following scenario. I've worked at a factory since the 28th of September. I work 40/+ hrs a week and have made roughly 6500$ since I started. Last week my boss began har***ing me about my ability to do a task that I was never properly trained to do by the company. On top of that he openly favours and allows others to get away with things that would get me fired if I did them. I want to go to HR about him, but if I do I'm worried I'd have a target on my back and would eventually be fired or would be further har***ed by my boss. I was wondering if I went to HR about him and then quit if I would be eligible for unemployment?

Thanks for your help,

Default Most likely

Most states let you claim unemployment insurance if you quit due to hostile/hazardous work environment. Make sure you keep some records of such incidents with the help of your co-workers perhaps. Going to HR is certainly one way to document this, but make sure you contact them by email or some written document first for your records. Rules aside, try to work a solution with your boss if he is willing to listen. It is not a pleasant experience to lose a job in this economy even if you get UI.
